Mr. Tiago Hands: Thank you so very much for making this video. I have been struggling with how to resolve this math question for many days. When I looked over my own calculations this afternoon, I realized that I was about to get it right (after viewing your video yesterday of a similar math video). But I was unable to think clearly factoring ab + bc to b x (a + c) and I gave up. You are a wonderful math teacher.

a/b = c/d =>
a/b ± c/b = c/d ± c/b =>
(a ± c)/b = (bc ± cd)/bd
(a ± c) = c(b ± d)/d
(a ± c)/(b ± d) = c/d = a/b
