What makes Yoon Jiwoo different from other female action characters, like Trinity from the Matrix or The Bride from Kill Bill, is that she’s a teenager when she starts her quest for vengeance.

The others are all experienced soldiers and trained assassins as adults, but there’s something unmatched about having a female action lead be a teenager at the start of their quest; teenagers are known for being brash, arrogant, undisciplined, disoriented and wreckless, which is exactly what Jiwoo’s character becomes after her father’s murder. But as the show progresses, she slowly starts to mature and through all of her combat and weapons training, Jiwoo develops discipline, self-assurance, assertiveness and all of the skills she will need to not only exact her vengeance, but to defend herself against her enemies.

Han So Hee definitely did an amazing job bringing the character of Yoon Jiwoo to life as a brash and inexperienced teenager who suffers a terrible loss and slowly turns into a dangerous and unstoppable force of nature who will stop at nothing as she sets out to find her father’s killer.
