you might already know, but in case you don't: the surface world shrines line up with the light roots underground (the underground is the same size as the overworld, but the map is like an inverted version - surface mountains are valleys underground, and so on... you can swap the map between the "layers" and have the surface map on the minimap even when you're down under... Oh, and build the hoverbike... and upgrade your battery, too)

In Breath of the Wild you had to fight Kohga to retrieve the thunderhelm that they stole from the Gorodu city to be able to get to the divine beast. the battle ended when he knocked himself into the giant pit
