Good luck with you're sobriety. Ive got the same problem with alcohol and found reading very helpful as a way to keep my mind off it in the early days. I'm now 14 months sober

Thanks for mentioning sobriety! I think its important to hear about and it can be a big inspiration to others. Ive been sober for 6+ years now and its one of the best decisions i have ever made. It enables me to channel my addictive personalityinto something more fruitful. And thats why i bought more than 100 books last year hahaha. Id like to hear about updates on that!

I’m about three years in to my own sobriety - the hardest parts at the beginning turn into a superpower before long.

I remember the first time I went to a wedding after starting my sobriety and being so anxious about it but by the end of the e night I was like “hell yeah I can just be a human being” and feeling really cool for not going for my usual crutch.

Best of luck!

I share a similar struggle with an addictive personality and really appreciate you sharing about sobriety. I decided to try sober February ("Because it's the shortest month haha!") and my life immediately got so much better. I'm a few days away from 6 months sober and haven't looked back!

Thank you for being vulnerable enough to tell us about your struggles with alcohol. I almost 8 years clean/sober and it's the best decision I've ever made. Oh and Swan Song is an absolute may be the best book I've read all year am I hoping it wins. It may not be that deep but if you ever need someone to talk too I'm around. 💙

haha thats amazing! congrats on the sobriety decision! i am in the same boat and honestly, it's usually easier for me to not have anything to drink versus trying to only have one or two. best of luck to you, Nick!

I’ve found that sobering up, and hopefully permanently, is like a vacation/transformation from your former self.
Don’t worry about being ‘preachy’. Talk about as much as you feel comfortable.

Hearing you talk about your struggles with alcool and your plans on sobriety makes me feel like I am not alone! I have the same kind of addictive personality(did the same with books and also with plants lol) and I was always the one friend that could never have just one drink…. I was fine not drinking but if I had one, I needed 10 😅 I had tried to limite my consumption in the past and it never worked long terme for me. Last year I dicided to quite cold turkey and althought it was hard and sometimes I still struggle (summer is especially hard for me with BBQ etc). I am now 16 months sober and It was the best decision I ever made for me and my familly .
Thank you for sharing I wish you all the best in your soberiety journey! ❤

Hey buddy, I think it’s awesome to share such a big part of your life, I just had 4 years sober in June because I also always need 37 beers. Best decision I’ve ever made. If you feel like sharing please keep us updated on how it’s going and I hope you have a supportive group around you to help guide you through the hard days. Be well ❤

Congratulations on deciding to enter sobriety! I wish you the best of luck, and am so happy you shared with all of us. I am 16 months sober and it is absolutely the best decision I ever made in my life. I'm looking forward to hearing if you find any difference with your reading in sobriety. I've been able to really enjoy what I'm taking in more, rather than just escaping.

I wish you peace and success on your sobriety journey. Your podcast is so enjoyable, and your commentary on books is unique and refreshing. Circe sounds like a good August book, but the others are also promising. I can't wait to see what is chosen.

I don’t struggle with alcohol, but I do struggle with sugar. I have had to 100% cut it out of my life. Way to go on your decision and journey!! Thank you for sharing.

Oh, and the book-buying struggle is real.
