Install IP Camera on NVR

1) Connect the IP camera to one of the PoE ports on the back of the NVR. The IP camera will be assigned an IP address by the NVR and the camera will be assigned to the channel # of the port that you connected it to.

2) Connect the IP camera the to a PoE switch. The NVR may be connected to the same switch or another switch no the same network. Using the NVRs main menu, select add camera from the main menu. A local network scan will be performed to detect any compatible IP cameras. Check the box next to the camera that you want to install. The IP camera will be assigned to the next available channel on the NVR.

Hi Mike, do consumer grade NVR's from companies like Swann and Reolink support the ability to hook up and detect the cameras from a PoE switch (not hooked up directly to the NVR) as you have shown in your video? Thank you!

Hi Mike, I have 16 port Hikvision NVR, and need to extend with 2 additional 8 POrt POE switches. Always shows cannot add any IP camera. Please help with network diagram
