James O'Brien is absolutely fed up, 'I've had enough now.' pt.2
'I've had enough now.' James O'Brien is absolutely fed up with people blaming the RMT for the UK's 'joke' railways as they're being treated as 'cash cows' by private investors including foreign governments.
Andrew Behan @andrew_behan, tweeted ''Well said fella. I wonder if Tory Ministers are possibly shareholders in Firstgroup etc etc. Let’s look at what the RDG want workers to accept in order to get 4% this year and 4% next year. 13 different attacks on jobs and T&Cs. Stay strong let’s avoid a return to unsafe railways.''

That mention of the G7 made me think, it's so absurd that we're considered to be on the same level as Japan or Germany, the public services in those countries are orders of magnitude better than ours

As a kid in Liverpool in the seventies, my view of unions was possibly at odds with many of my peers. I felt that Unions took workers out on strike, families struggled on strike pay for months and the companies innevitably closed down the plants somewhere down the line. I grew up with first hand experience of seeing unions as enemies of the working class, watching my mum with a little notebook trying to work out how to feed three kids on strike pay for 4mths... Throughout my teens when your world view start to take shape I still had this idea that unions were backward looking and bullied their way towards pay rises when businesses said there was no money to fund them. The MSM usually supported the businesses claims and went to town on how much chaos the binmen, train-drivers, carworkers, grave-diggers or whoever was out at the time were causing... Scargill v Thatcher seemed like the unions v progress...It can take a while for this view to change because just like someone with a religious upbringing, these "beliefs" become set in concrete in your mind...
It took me to my early twenties (late 1980's) to finally see what was really happening. The utter greed and sociopathy of capitalists. Often hiding behind foreign or "global" ownership and having no care about their obligations to workers, the environment or paying the right amount of tax in the countries they made their profits in.

When you travel in Europe you see just how bad the rail system is in the UK, when you can go from Madrid to Barcelona for 36€ return (anytime) on a high speed train with allocated seat yet it cost 400£ for a trip from Birmingham to London and there is no guarantee of a seat or even a train! The amount times a pay for a rail fair then get on a bus is crazy 🤦‍♂️

The Unions arose out of need. That need, after decades, has returned because the reasons behind it have been allowed free rein once again. And still the willing serfs vote for their oppressors for the crumbs they provide.

Most of mainland Europe and most of southeast Asia have very good or excellent public transport systems. Britain and the USA generally have poor public transport. It's pretty obvious why.

more accidents will happen if they get rid of more staff. Privatisation always costs the taxpayer more, just look at the NHS.

There was another movie, from 1959 and starring Peter Sellers, Ian Carmichael, Terry-Thomas, Richard Attenborough, Dennis Price, Margaret Rutherford and more, called ‘I’m All Right Jack’. It very successfully sends up both sides of the Unions vs Owners fight.

Thank you, James O'BRIEN. I have been waiting for you to have the courage to tell the real truth about what greed has done to England. The water, the railways, the postal service, and the National Healthcare and Education all of the public sector are out on strike because of the cost of living the greedy landlords have made renting out of reach for Public service workers. All public services workers have to go to food banks. That includes the nurses, the teachers, the postal workers All I see is the wealthy have been given a payday. I have been turning to Double Down News and Novara media but still listen to you. This is because most of the time, you have the courage to tell the truth and give use the real honest to God story the news. As an end note, you are right about
Prince Harry and Meghan, I just watched the 6 part Netflix show, and I always knew they were fed to the dishonest corporate media to protect Prince Andrew and others in the Royal Family
It is time for a general election for our great country before it is too late to save. I have so much respect for the honesty of Mick Lynch and Eddy Dempsty and Dave Ward and all of the union leaders

James, not all trains have guards. Most commuter trains are driver only operated. SWR is an exception. Its new trains are equipped for the driver to release and secure the doors.

You still need staff to talk to at stations because they make it difficult to know what bloody ticket to what train company

The unions of the late 60s and 70s did some damage to the publics view of them, but you have to look to the history of the trade unions it’s a different story. The Tories austerity measures are now coming back to roost James.

Do people realise what train drivers earn? They are leaving the fire service to get £90k for driving a train! I have friends in the service who have told me this.
