Eighteen Bedfordshire Police officers, staff and investigators have completed this year’s Police Unity Tour.

The Bedfordshire team cycled 215 miles in three days this weekend, raising around £6,000 for the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) charity in the process.

The charity supports the families of police officers and staff who have lost their lives on duty.

The Bedfordshire team braved wet and windy weather all weekend, met the families of fallen officers and finished the tour at the new national police memorial arboretum.

Detective Sergeant Matt Crouch said: “This was an incredible effort from our 2021 team.

“We have got used to the bad weather for unity tour weekends, but the spirit and effort from everyone involved was absolutely superb.

“It was also a humbling, proud and privileged moment to meet the families of those supported by COPS, which makes all the hard work worthwhile.

“I am so proud of the team, including the essential and invaluable support crew, our force and all those involved in this incredible event.”
