The Microtonal Music of Ancient Greece

Показать описание
An improvisation for solo lyre based on a hauntingly evocative documented microtonal scale from ancient Greece, known as the Archytas enharmonic scale:

The use of quarter tones in this ancient Greek scale adds an intensity to the resulting music improvised in it in an entirely different dimension to the artificial constraints of our monotonously standardized 12 note chromatic system.

Unfortunately, I have yet to find a microtonal ancient Greek tuner App to generate precisely the correct pitch ratios documented in this particular documented ancient Greek scale and so I had to try to tune by ear, to the best of my ability - I sincerely hope Apollo will not be offended by my resulting efforts!

Fantastic music! It's going with us in a special project of theater and making the play a true work of dramatic immersion.
Thank you very much, Michael, for your compositions, for your art and for trusting us.
Kind regards from Spain!
