Conan is absolutely brilliant. He is universally funny, which gives him mass appeal... but he's incredibly intelligent, which hooks a listener or other entertainer in like a moth to a flame. He's driven as hell and a great person under the facade of fame. He's my idol, he's hilarious, he's a champion of comedy.

Lately, I've been on a "late night history" kick and listening to interviews *of* Conan are among my favorites. The man is so engaging and sincere and well rounded and, yes, funny so this comes as no surprise to me.

I definitely love the fact that Conan is very aware of the world changing quickly around him and he tries to adapt to it. Like I doubt many people in positions like he's in realize that traditional television is on its way out and that things like streaming and gaming have taken over.

Conan is also a staff guy first. He came up through t.v. and knows everyone's role, and uses that empathy to keep his staff employed and working through several situations (the move to L.A., the loss of TONIGHT, the live show, TBS, and the switch to the podcast empire) that any other host would have left the staff to fend for themselves. Even pre-recorded a ton of interviews in anticipation of the writers' strike.

It was a really good interview and it showed how Howard evolved as an interviewer. In the 90s, he spent the interview trying to bash Conan and trying to entertain with barbs and jokes. The 2015 interview was a legit connection and entertaining as hell. Amazing to see how comfortable Conan was in both settings.
I idolized both of these guys as a kid so great to see them coming together in such a profound way.
