What is Holding Up SpaceX Starship Flight 9 No Launch Untill...
The fact that Flight 9 still hasn’t launched is a disappointing reality, especially for those of us who were waiting for the flight to take place in the second half of this month.
However, the truth is that SpaceX still has several important tasks to complete before the next launch can happen.
So, what exactly is left to be done? And is there still a chance for a launch this month?
Let’s explore the answers in today’s episode of Great SpaceX.
What is Holding Up SpaceX Starship Flight 9 No Launch Untill...
Of course, we’re all eagerly anticipating Flight 9—not just because it’s another Starship launch, but because it represents SpaceX’s renewed commitment to achieving a successful mission following two flights marked by challenges and setbacks.
Many launch predictions have been floating around, with some suggesting April 18, and even my own hopeful estimate was April 20. But now, it seems clear those dates may not hold. SpaceX still has a substantial amount of preparation to complete before the next flight window opens.
Let’s start with the hardware. Booster 14 (B14) recently completed its static fire test, a critical milestone. It is currently undergoing post-test inspections inside Mega Bay 1. These post-fire checks are particularly crucial for the engine system. Despite outwardly positive results from the static fire, there’s speculation that B14 may have experienced issues during the test. SpaceX will need to verify that the engines sustained no damage from the intense firing sequence.

One major area of focus will be the igniter system. Problems with engine ignition were confirmed to have affected both B14 and B15 on previous flights, so ensuring flawless performance here is non-negotiable. Adding to the challenge, many of B14’s Raptor engines are reused components, having already flown in past missions. That makes thorough inspections even more important. Other systems, such as the fuel tanks and grid fins, also require routine evaluations to confirm they’re mission-ready.

To be resolved, thank you.

I don't think it's a bad thing that starship hasn't taken off yet. They should be taking their time to make sure they have fixed the problem. We don't want another flight 7 & 8.

I just dont understand so much hate and negativity in some of the comments. Id think people would be excited to see humans moving forward to explore the final frontier. I whole heartedly wish Space X complete success as it will long term benefit all mankind.

They just need to change the 2nd stage ignition sequence. Ignite one sea level engine to facilitate stage separation, then ignite the rest to rocket away.

Space is hard! They call it rocket science for a reason. ⭐🙂👍

9 A definite success this flight. We will see it this month!

😎😎I worry about Sabotage in manufacturing! I worked for General Dynamics in San Diego for a time in the tooling department. I was close to Quality Control and learned that 51% of all production at that plant by the airport was Scrap! Elan should be advised of this and increase diligence! Sometimes Bad Apples don't stand out.

Flight 9's delay is frustrating, but SpaceX's focus on perfecting every detail shows they're serious about nailing this launch—May could be a game-changer!

Good Morning, Kev. Why are disappointed? It is smart for SpaceX to look at every detail. You don't want to just throw in the air. Just to see another failure do you? Slowness crosses the finish line. Be patient! I want to see it launch too. But more importantly. I want success. Have a good day.

they probably already have the position filled, but a sound tek could help. it's not just the volume, it's also the harmonics.

I still think the hot staging ring in of itself is an issue. It is not the event of hot staging but the flex in the hot staging ring that is causing a resonance in the upper stage resulting in overpressure resonance rupturing fuel lines.

May 1st. Successful mission. No anomalies.

Yes‼️ The Bottom line is we all (Globally) want to get them to Mars for all man kind. This is something we are all invested in no matter who you are. Humanity To Mars ASAP.

Hot staging ring design has been a issue since they first realised they needed one. Using stainless steel on the booster and starship when they were designed to be built from aluminium could also be a issue. Makes sense to ditch the booster this time with meckazilla 2 being close to finished, be a shame to mess up landing a used booster.

Do you have any schematics or plans for the new starship?
I'm talking with my friend and we want to build a scale model fo his son, Wei's 10th birthday.
Love your channel from China❤

My prediction for Flight 9's launch is towards the end of April/beginning of May.
Why? Having had two unsuccessful flights in a row, SpaceX is likely going to do everything they can to ensure a successful flight; if this means pushing back IFT-9 so be it.

The resonance from v1 starship would be different to the v2 starship because of the increased length. Like wind chimes for example, the longer the tube the lower the tone.

Equal and opposite reaction, The 6 starship engines fire up at 30 to 40% throttle, so how many tons of thrust energy hitting the hot stage ring, , so how many tons has got to be bouncing back to the engines and engine bells, ,
Might even be hard enough to give you the beer bottle effect 🤔🤯

Falcon is properly designed, but the latest stuff is fatally flawed and will need major redesign. I could write a book on this but the worst faults are the booster has far too many point of failure too small engines, and the second stage (which is an insult to call it a starship) is the wrong shape, a cylinder with one side tiled and winglets sticking out to be fried on re entry is just stupid. If you put an old space shuttle on top of the booster it would be a massive improvement

#9, , , GO!! I'm thinking Space X will launch Flight 9 in early May. You told it correctly, they want to get this one right.
