Top 5 Fantasy Worlds
I count down my top 5 fantasy worlds in literature. I love reading fantasy, and I love getting into different worlds and exploring the lands, people, and cultures. I find them fascinating. These are my top 5 fantasy worlds:

5. The Four Lands (Shannara)
4. Wheel of Time
3. Westeros (A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones)
2. Malazan (Malazan Book of the Fallen)
1. Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit)

What are your favourite fantasy worlds?

Hearing you say that you prefer Malazan over Westeros made my heart sing

The layers upon layers of history in malazan world is incredibly done. Many people don't like Erikson's writing style and that's fine, but you gotta give credit to him for creating an ambitious, unique and massively detailed world.

The Malazan Series is my absolute favorite..not sure I would want to live there, it's brutal as all hell.. Hands down the deepest, richest and most expansive history and characters.. must must read, if you haven't you're in for a treat and a deeply involving ride.

Steven Eriksson kicks ass. Once having read the first series, you'll realize it is more than you can get into your head at that point. The amazing combination of archeology and D&D, unstoppable. One of the humanoid species (an Elder Race) which still walks their world is the Foruk Assail. They have for over 30, 000 years. There are over 7 humanoid species alive on that world.
The magic also gives an eternal life's worth of adventure, as each 'warren' you can have an affinity to, can be a different dimension, planet within their universe, within a Sword...
Sorry. I think Mr. Ericsson's made me a Malaz Addict. I've read the first series e times and started my fourth. Still catching bits and hints.

If you like Malazan you should probably read Glen Cook's The Black Company

Honourable mentions should go to Eärwa from the Prince of Nothing Series and the amazing world of Bas-Lag created by China Mevielle. If anyone thought Malazan book of the fallen was a breath of fresh air to the fantasy genre when it came out you need to check Perdido Street Station and The Scar. Mind blow

Can't disagree with any of these... the only one I'd add- as a tie to number 5 is discworld.  But that's my humble view.

I agree with you. I wish I also could stay in a fantasy world. My favorite word is Narnia. I could say Hogwarts but Narnia is so special to me. I also like the Percy Jackson world and the Mortal Instruments. But when I was a child Narnia was everything.

@Jay Dee Archer check out the "Land" this is the world created by Stephen Donaldson in his Hugo award winning series called The chronicles of Thomas Covenant the unbeliever. this fantasy world will live with you forever. Donaldson is one of Steven Erickson's fovourite writers and an inspiration to said author. amazing pros beautiful illustrious writing. characters you'd want to meet in real life. and the land the world covenant is transported to is transcendent.
without knowing the world of the Land, wild magic, hurtloam and the Blood guard, one's top 5 is
give it a read Jay.

Just started Malazan, feeling confused and disoriented, but like other series, I'm sure it will start to make more sense the further I read. I like your list, but I would add the land of Midcyru, from the Night Angel series. Maybe the world the Sword of Truth series takes place too, can't remember the name at the moment.

Rand-land, lol. I haven't heard that but it's so true. I'm almost done with the series. I'm halfway through the 13th book and the world and characters have become so familiar to me. However, it's only second to the world of Tolkien. Partly because it's the baseline for all fantasy (and even some science fiction) worlds. Mostly though because of the different species. The Ents are some of my favourite sentient beings in all fantasy worlds. Great video!

Wonderful lineup and to me, Agree on Middle Earth, adding the interplanetary system in Dune books, the Disc World and the Jedi Universe. Doing some world building for futre projects so not a bad idea to read these :) cheers
