Eurasian Tree Sparrows in the States [NARRATED]

Here in the States, most people who take an interest in birds have never heard of the Eurasian Tree Sparrow. It was imported, same as the House Sparrow, but it's range has remained narrow. Too bad. PLEASE CLICK 'LIKE' IF YOU APPRECIATE THE MOVIE.

I just had one at my feeder here in NE south dakota I had to go to my sparrow book to find out what it was. Great video thanks!!!

The ETS has a trim beard while the house sparrow has a shabby bib...and a dull gray cap. Your adjectives give away your bias, not that you try to hide it. But all the birds get to eat the smorgasbord that your hubby provides. Your clever and informative narratives along with good footage about identification is always terrific. Thanks.

Love this! We have these in our yard. A buddy from Texas made a trip up here and simply HAD to go visit them for his life-list!

These are the most common bird species found in Malaysia! They're like the pigeons of NYC, you can find them almost anywhere in the city and neighbourhoods, pecking around the ground for food in little groups.

Very helpful, Jo. We finally saw Bluebirds at our backyard winter feeders for the first time this year. I quickly put up a bluebird house, but was dismayed when ETS settled in. Had they been House Sparrows, I would have dispatched them, but was uncertain about the ETS, so I let them be. Three fledglings later I now wondered if it would good to clean out their nest, but I was unsure...until viewing your video...if they intended to lay multiple broods throughout the summer, like our Mourning Doves. You cleared that up, so cleaning brush is now in hand.

Just found you. I'm binge watching your movies. I'm in the St. Louis area also. Started feeeding hummingbirds for the first time this spring, its been an awesome learning experience with these birds. They have different personalities. My grandkids are naming them 💜 Keep up the great work Mrs. Jo and stay safe 💜

Very interesting movie, Jo. I really like the facts about their migration and how they arrived here from Germany.

Great video Jo loved it as always! Very informative too did not know much about the Eurasian Sparrow. Like you I see a few around here as well and yes the House Sparrow is a pain in the bucket. Looking forward to your next video and I hope that you are feeling better these days, hon. God bless you always.

Hello Jo! I didn't know that Sparrows were considered a nuisance. I always thought they were just little cuties! So glad to see a new post from you! Hope you are doing well!

Glad to see this film Jo. I was just in your neck of the woods and the ETS are still nesting in a neighbor's backyard. Love watching and learning about these sparrows as St. Louis is the only place I've seen them. They were in protection mode when I was there. Guarding the nest with the occasional scuffle as you mention but not able to see the young before I left. Thanks for the great images and information as always. Best regards, Cathy

Thanks for your video! I'm from China, but I don't know this history! And I just search the news and knew it. Our ancestors focused on the development of crops, they killed 36571 sparrows at that time, so that protect the crops. It is rare to see sparrows now because most crops are now irrigated with pesticides, and now the house of cities and rural areas are built with bricks and cement. I can vaguely remember that when I was young, about 15 years ago, I could still see them on the thatched houses in the country.
