Not all homeless are bad. I once helped a young lady being mugged name Gloria. Couldn’t tell by the way she carried herself that she was homeless. After a quick chitchat I recommend a local shelter in the city, took some convincing but she decided to take me up on the offer.

Before you knew it she got her life together. Landed a job at the coffee shop and even found love. Plus she even volunteered to help the shelter on the weekend.

Keep violent offenders in prison and the shelters won't be so damned dangerous!

I guess if the shelter’s were that much better than the sidewalks they’d already be there. I wonder how many mayors and governors are gonna beat the same broken drum.

If you can accept Ukrainians in Brooklyn, it should be the same with the homeless people

It's inhumane to see so many people on the streets and a health hazzard for millions. We can do better and must do better. This is New York the city that was once so nice. We name it twice. Let's step up and rool sleeve up. Citizens helping citizens. Ready when called upon. For I'm doing my part daily

How about finding people affordable decent housing. Because weather you live in a shelter or on the streets. You’re still homeless Mayor Adams

I believe all the abandon buildings that they are in New York City New Jersey Philadelphia and anywhere but beyond should open up for the homeless coalition. Get these people who been been on the streets for decades, help assist him with some type of permanent housing, along with job training education, and get them into some type of program for drugs or alcohol or both, along with that mental health medication is a must. And within three years of living in a Safetynet type shelter, they should have enough savings to be able to afford six months worth of rent and utilities for them to be able to function as normal civilization Canby. Many of these homeless people have such severe medical neglect, economic neglect, been homeless for decades on the streets, and let’s stop putting them into abandon buildings and homes that is suitable for at least some of these people to get off the streets.

The one mayor comment was cruel. The shelters are pretty much rikers with revolving doors.

I respect what the mayor said when he responded to the homeless advocates, 3 million opinions only one mayor and he’s gonna tackle it head on without letting those dumb and unreasonable solutions .

Truth. Thank you. Activists and ‘advocates’ have failed the homeless (drug addicted and mentally ill) and the larger community. All we’ve gotten is continuing addiction, worsening mental health, unsafety, filth, crime, and death. Good job mayor.

It is inhumane to treat homeless people as a byproduct of business. Having a capitalistic attitude towards homelessness creates the atmosphere real homeless people fear. Taxing people into oblivion causes a lot of folks to lose hope and foundation. If you are truly serious about assisting people take the business model out of doing it low rate security low rate food products and no real pathway towards a better life stall the process of getting off the streets. The problem with New York is that everything is capital based from the tickets to the tolls to the way people are dealt with when offering services and no matter how many empowering drive speeches the head of the city makes until the attitudes about human beings changes we are going to remain stalled

This doesn’t help. I see the cops move a homeless woman that’s been camping outside of Jamaica Center train station for years now and she comes right back. Their is a homeless guy that sleeps in my hallway for years and the cops come and put him out he comes back. I don’t see anything this mayor is doing that’s helping it’s actually like he’s being a police officer look at all the things he is trying to do just like a cop.
