This is actually somewhat accurate as in ecosystems where apex predators have been taken out by humans, lesser hunters grow wildly and send everything into chaos and when reintroduced, Apex Predators rebalance the ecosystem. So yeah, a scenario like this is partly based on science except projected on a human level with a tinge of Apothesis
