Poor baby :( they don’t need help shedding! You can, but it may damage the skin forming underneath. These comments earned my respect!

i'm the proud parent of two leopard geckos, one of which is disabled. i can safely say after personal experience and hours of research, DO NOT remove a reptile's shed for them unless they cannot do it themselves. in the case of my disabled gecko, he has metabolic bone disease and his body is deformed as a result. i remove ONLY the parts that get stuck and absolutely nothing else. in the case that you have to remove shed skin manually, give the reptile a gentle dampening down with warm water and rub what you can off with a qtip or something softish. you may have to peel off tiny pieces on the toes or tail tip, so make sure you do so while the shed skin is damp and soft (it's less harsh on their bodies than ripping off dry skin)

As a owner of a leopard gecko, people do not do this unless the gecko is struggling with taking it off by themselves and please DO NOT hold them by their tail it is not good, their tails are kinda fragile and can easily get ripped off.

My grandma only steps in and helps her leopard gecko when he's actually in need of help. Again, *they usually do this by themselves*

I used to have two geckos and the very first thing I learned was that you should NEVER DO THIS!! They do indeed feel this and it can be very painful to them!! I accidentally pulled a piece of stuck shed off my baby once and he screamed at me. I felt so bad he got a treat immediately.

You don't do this unless the gecko is having trouble shedding on it's own. I noticed that some of the skin did not want to come off freely, which means the gecko wasn't ready to shed yet. I understand that sometimes a lizard or reptile has an issue where it can't shed on it's own and needs help, but you'd have to soak the creature in water first to help loosen the skin and avoid discomfort, but we just witnessed forced dry-shedding, which can actually pull out a scale or a few.

You shouldn’t pull off the shed unless the gecko already started to shed. That gecko definitely showed signs of stress and discomfort. Thank you! Not the person who filmed it but everyone else!
Edit: I don’t know what you mean by affording for the gecko to eat the shed but that sounded kind of stupid.

I have 2 geckos and I can confirm that you should NEVER DO THIS. This will hurt their skin and they can get great nutrients by just eating it on their own. They can also get very stressed and scared and lose their tail. I hope somebody buys this beautiful gecko so he doesn’t have to be punished anymore 😓❤️

Chill out, yes you can help them if they are struggling but only small pieces so u don’t hurt them

My sound isn’t on, but I can tell that poor thing was not liking that. They can shed on their own just fine. The ONLY TIME you would need to help is when the shed gets stuck. It comes off in its own time, don’t force it like that!

Please, DO NOT DO THIS. It should only be done if it is a medical emergency

As a person with 3 leopard geckos i can say olease don't do this if not necessary. I have a leopard gecko who is blind and sick so she cant fully shed so i do help her but only if i see she is really struggling. If you do do this i recommend placing them in warm water to soften the skin and make it less painful for your reptilian friend.
Hopethis helps😊

You could’ve afforded to let him shed on his own. Literally takes less than a night uninterrupted if he’s not a problem shedder. I’m sure he wasn’t sold out the moment he was posted, ya could’ve waited

I’m glad people are aware that you SHOULD NEVER REMOVE A GECKO’S SHEDDING SKIN UNLESS IT’S ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY
