Not all fossil fuels in the industrial sectors can be replaced by direct electrification. Hydrogen and its derivatives, on the other hand, offer genuine technological and low carbon alternatives to substitute fossil fuels in hard-to-abate sectors. The potential to decarbonise industry with hydrogen has recently been recognised by a wide range of policymakers and industry players.
