"People with peanut allergies will still view it as a threat when they see it, still shoot it down in the middle of the road in St. Louis."

This transition was as smooth as butter. Brilliant hook to start the piece and very apt for the message.

I really had to replay this again the moment it ended just because I knew there was no way I got every bit of wordplay and drop of passion the first time.

My heart soars with wings of prayer
Over that mountain, which was set
To test a worthless man with care
And show purpose to he who lets
The evil of the world ensnare
His will to live, as though a net
Has taken his soul from the bare
Hands of a god with nothing left
To give.

Very interesting stuff here from this woman. I'm already familiar with her works. She does it again!

"Old black or new black; you're still black.

Outside gay or bedroom gay; you're still gay.

You still target; you still one police stop, or "no, I'm sorry, I have a girlfriend" away from your mother burying you on this same land that you are trying to protect;

Don't make them remind you that you are still one of us."

When I say I FELT that...
