Sean, you could use the cardboard in the cold frame to get a colony of worms going, especially as the cardboard looks quite damp.
Take all the staples out and remove all cellophane, then start putting the stacked cardboard in a quiet corner. The worms will find it and reduce it to lovely worm compost which you could then mix a small proportion, say 25% by volume, into your potting compost. This will get your seeds off to a flying start 🌸

Just a question. Do you need another shed as you can use the existing shed as a tool shed as you now have your summer house to relax in and set up with your tea making stuff etc.
Save your money for something else

Hello from a very cold day here in upstate New York in the Hudson Valley. ⛄️⛄️❄️❄️❄️

I’ve seen somebody use an old glass shower panel for the cold frame top.

Cold frame: reuse wood beams laying around, instead of glazing (doors or windows) use HDPE transparent film like for poly tunnel. You can simply stapple it to beems. 2 layers for first cold months, then easily unstaple 1 layer for the rest of summer. Quick, cheep & practical as a temporary thing. 🤗

you have a waterfront view, keep it clear of rubbish, you could screen off the back corner behind the shed you are going to build and move your pond further along, so your plot looks tidy it is good to have an out of sight area🙂

Thats a great idea...The cold frame is 3/4 done. It could be enough to start several trays of crops. There is probably enough scrap lumber to make 2 frames for the the frames with plastic. A layer on both sides of the frame to make an air pocket...and secure them so they don't blow off... you could be planting the next day...and it's easier and faster than building the green house right cardboard could be flattened and be the first layer in the bottom. For insulation...sprinkle some Epsom salt on the top of cardboard... the slugs dont like it...then the other scrap lumber layed down inside to set trays on.maybe a piece of your black plastic over the wood to heat up with the sun... And your ready, steady, plant, the next day...doing it inside.with a cup of tea, in your shed . ❤ Thanks Sean.

Hello Sean! Have you ever done winter sowing? It gets you a head start on your plants. YouTube has lots of ideas. We are going to plant some flowers and veggies hopefully this week.

Could you use the cardboard for sheet mulch?

You have huge experience in the garden. I expect you could write a lovely book. You have this beautiful piece of land, with a gurgling stream, for heaven sake, and all your planning time, will result in something gorgeous. I need to see it on paper, personally, but as you explain, I can’t wait to see it all evolve. And, just an aside, the later you can wait to eat in the morning, the better. Sometimes this results in two meals, not three. A nice cuppa in between helps.

Hi Sean what are you going to use your Summer house for, thought it was for sitting and drinking your tea 🤔

It's good to formulate a solid plan to proceed with. That shed will need some kind of metal tie downs for the roof so it doesn't blow off. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦

I would suggest llacing the porch on the sunny side or shade side deoending on your weather there. Nice to hafe sun in the winter as you have your tea.❤❤❤

Morning all. Two fitted planks of wood and plastic french doors should do it for the cold frame. Fit it like a car bonnet to keep open for ventilation, the dump or shop for new windows should have old ones and the keys so you can lock it.

The earth still is frozen here, it’s nice to see you out doing something, thanks for letting me garden vicariously. I can start my tomatoes and peppers inside next month 🎉

🎉how rar away from your house is this new homestead
. You seem to be able to walk there pretty quick with your wheel barrow?? .try some old double glazed glass patio doors for your cold frame. Those corrugated sheets would be nice painted fern green and your plants will stand out in front of it and make it look ni er. Keep up the good work from ANDY up here in Prestatyn n wales😊

Morning Sean, interesting ideas have you sketched a plan yet? I like your idea of a shed with a walkway/veranda so you can have different views around the Homestead, especially down that end of the plot.Glad it's 'warming'up lol. It has been feeling very cold. We've been lucky here, no snow but hard frosts👍. Keep warm and your ideas coming too.🤗
