The HIGHLY ANTICIPATED Shape Builder Tool has FINALLY arrived to Inkscape! Inkscape 1.3 was released yesterday, and with it came the Shape Builder tool. This tool, which was made popular by Adobe Illustrator, allows you to easily combine multiple shapes to create new shapes.

The possibilities with this tool are endless as the Shape Builder tool less you create complex designs by building upon simple shapes. It makes it a million times easier to create digital art for your graphic design projects, and allows you to be more creative.

In this video, I walk you through how to use the new Shape Builder tool and some examples of objects you can create.

Yeah a lot of good stuff in the update. New lpe, new path lpe corner rounder etc. Very excellent work by inkscape team.

I'm not familiar with other tools, but Shape Builder seems useful. However, to be really useful, it should be possible to *re-use* the shape in some *library*.
* Is that possible? Can I create a set of shapes (e.g., similar to in Visio)?
* If possible, where can I store the shapes/invoke them from?

OMG I can't believe what a massive idiot I am. I installed inkscape back in 2022 and never updated it since. Recently I *had to* update it cos I cleaned my system and ofc I re-downloaded it, bringing the version up to 1.3.2...If I knew this was released I would've updated in an instant lmao. Such a massive time saver

Thank you for the enlightenment! However, it looks like you've missed a critically important point. Or maybe didn't make it clear. Here is this thing: in a single session, you create, generally, not one shape, but a set of shapes. Here is how: if you repeat your inclusion process of the fragment, and end up with two or more united sets with empty intersections, you obtain two or more shapes at the end, when you hit Enter.
