Recently attended a performance at the Royal Albert Hall. My personal judgment is not positive, and I will say this now as a disclaimer so that fanboys and uneducated enthusiasts can stop reading my comment.

All the the sadness of this recomposition or I believe the right world is decomposition, is conveyed right at the beginning with the prelude of suite 1: the feeling of listening to the music theme of the commercial for bottle water is overwhelming. I could not see any form of inspiration in these "recomposition" but more a sort of dumbification of this seemingly simple but in fact articulated and powerful classical masterpieces. It's like adding a snapchat filter to the Monna Lisa.

There is a band named Evanescence, and they recorded an album with an orchestra and they also mixed with electronic music. I bet that these versions of th songs of Bach must be unmissable.

My problem with this is: this is NOT the Bach Cello Suites. It's some nice sounding, marshmallow electro, easily forgettable, totally regrettable "take" on the greatest set of masterpieces for solo cello ever written. Next up, we'll get a jazz version of the Bach Chaconne in D minor for solo violin. I FUCKING DARE YOU!

Shorty saying - VERY BAD. Personally I think that it is EXACTLY what Bach would NOT write, for sure ?/in MY opinion/. Listen from 0'21'' : infinite loop. That's OPOSITION to Bach's 'ever changing musical substance'. It's hopelessly PREDICTIBLE. What's more - these Works are not 'just music' but rather 'kind of DNA prescription' : Music is a PROJECTION of This. That's because instrument solo gives very limited posibilities of creating Music. In that way they are a good Starting Point to 'transformation, adding body'. And what should be done is - kind of 'expresion' - say - gene expression on dna chain : meaning : building Construction, Body - based on THEM. But I persponally think, that Mr Gregson, uunfortunately, instead of going this way, tried to rebuild or add 'his own pieces of DNA code to the genome'. That's completely 'missing routes'. Leading to something...:( :( :(. Unfortunately...

Bach music needs no recomposition. It was right the first time. What's next, recomposing Mass in b min & St. Matthew Passion?
