I've always loved the suffocating and mysterious atmosphere of "Desert Kisses" which almost sounds like a precursor to the Cocteau Twins with its chordal bass part and emphatic backing vocals in the distance (The Cocteau Twins won't release their debut album until two years later !).

Bands were being very creative with their percussion parts in the early 80's. Hopefully you'll also cover XTC's albums from the same time period, where there's a lot of that as well.

Love this track. For me one of the best tracks on this album. At same time atmosferic and very melodic. Thanks for the reaction and For the trip through this iconic album. Like many others here, I prefer Juju, but it's still great. And it works marvellously in the context of the album.

You nailed it calling it Goth. The whole album is 2 steps above their first 2 which were more punk. Their 2nd album "Join Hands" ends with 14 min. of 'The Lords Prayer'; you thought 'Sister Ray' was bad? "Kaleidoscope" is much more mature and Siouxsie is no longer shouting everything. This track is atmospheric like a lot of songs on this album. The next song is another turn.

The BIGGEST HIDDEN GEM from this album

I liked it. Maybe I am secretly Goth and didn't know.

The "incoherent" instruments in SnTB songs work for them beautifully. When you get to Through the looking Glass the songs are laser focused.

It’s an amazing track. I love it but prefer Paradise Place over it because it feels better to me.

This tune leaves me almost as depressed, as the day I left my woman, Sandy Doone in a dried out dust-bin town! Peace & Love.

There's a fair amount of filler on this album, and Juju is way better tbh.

I’d never heard this track before and I’m really really sorry to say it’s disappointing cack, I’m a huge fan of the banshees in general and the goth queen in particular but this sounds like a filler track for an album . Sorry, it’s my genuine opinion and please don’t set the hounds on me for opining it 👀
