Summer forecast 2022: What kind of weather can Canadians expect this season?

It has been an incredibly active spring across the country. Now it’s time to look ahead to what Global News Chief Meteorologist Anthony Farnell thinks will be a summer with fewer extremes but plenty of warm temperatures.

A very hot couple of months are predicted south of the border in the central United States and this heat ridge or dome will also play a role in the summer pattern across Canada.

At times, the ridge will flex north into the Prairies or east into the Great Lakes and bring mostly short doses of heat and humidity before retreating back south of the border.

The ridge will also act as a traffic cop directing thunderstorms around the periphery.

Well, Southern Quebec has had below average temperatures and above average rain all Spring. Someone needs to inform mother nature when to turn the heat on, now that it's officially summer. Meteorologists: The only job you can have, be consistently wrong, and still keep your job

Yesterday my local weather predicted 70% chance of 0.4mm of rain, later it predicted 10% chance of 0.1mm of rain, then it down poured for 20 minutes which slightly flooded the road I was on.

If you can't predict the weather on the day the weather occurs, how can you predict an entire season? There is no profession, other than meteorologist, that gets it wrong so often while managing to keep their job.

It's been above average temperature in Vancouver, and a lot of BC, and looks like it will continue until fall, so a bit off there.

last year in Scottieland Trudy said Lytton was eradicated from Earth by an ecostorm of catastrphics guess it is still there but it sure did impress the GReeners
