Love this man and how great a person he was. Seemed so down to earth and kind and funny. He will always have my heart 100%. Wish I could've known/met him and spent time in his presence. Love hearing him speak Italian but also hearing him speak English. Man was a handsome man and so talented. What a guy! Love you always, Marcello Mastroianni. Always and Forever.

Marcello really was the right choice for the role. I cannot imagine Paul Newman in his place in "La Dolce Vita". It would've been a completely different film, that's for sure.

Paul Newman is a great actor, like Marcello Mastriano. The producer probably had no idea of the script either. But LA Dolce Vita is more suited to Marcello. Who else but an Italian could play this? People would've felt insulted if an American actor played a life-loving Italian news reporter and would-be author.

I love how Sophia Loren points out how Federico Fellini's script-sketch is dream-like, which is how many of his films are, having been inspired by his dreams.

The one scene after a night of revelry, he focuses the camera on statues and paintings of Roman Deities frolicking, suggesting how we can act like Gods and Goddesses to our ruin, as mythology shows.

Fellini oved Jung's work with dreams, our inner drama until we return to the eternal dream.

Fellini was exceptional in his portrayal and elevation of women, subjugated by fearful men.
