This was a great excursion that we did on our own and not through the cruise line, but though a travel agency we met in the port area. Buyer Beware though if you are going to do any shopping in this port. This was part of a 9 Night Mediterranean Greek Isle Cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas.

I am not a cruising person, but considering it due to age. Turkey is one of my favorite places to visit for a month at a time because of all the Greek and Roman sites in addition to the Turkish ones. Found Turkiye very friendly and affordable.

Thanks to your videos we will self guide on our very similar cruise this fall. I was excited when celebrity rescheduled us to chania (after seeing your video). However we get there on Sunday and both the stores you highly recommended are closed Sundays 😢 oh well… thank you for the work you did on these videos. So helpful. We loved Kusadasi, Ephesus and Virgin Mary’s house when there a year ago, almost to the day. I would suggest using the cruise ship excursion though. The extra cost is insurance that the ship will wait for you to get back…..peace of mind. The only drawback is that the guide will bring you to a rug “demonstration” which ends up as a high pressure sales pitch. Our tour guide was fantastic. You can actually leave the excursion at that point since it is at the end and in the town of Kusadasi. Don’t eat near the port, go a few blocks away and get more authentic food. The vendors are aggressive and will do anything to get you in the shop. I bought some things at a soccer team store and they saw the bag Galatasaray bag and used it to start a conversation. Overall, the people who give it bad reviews were unprepared for the place…..

Great video, I have spent the last few weeks tryign to figure out how I was going to navigate Ephesus without teh large group tours and without the local bus.

I had gotten Turkey liras when I was ordering my euros, but it was unnecessary. Euros were widely accepted. In fact at one store had everything priced in Euro, when I gave them lira, they had to recalculate from the Euro price.
