A high-school senior named Hae Min Lee disappeared one day after school in 1999, in Baltimore County, Maryland. A month later, her body was found in a city park. She'd been strangled. Her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was arrested for the crime, and within a year, he was sentenced to life in prison. But then a judge again vacated Syed's conviction in September 2022. On October 11, 2022, prosecutors announced that the charges against Syed had been dropped, effectively exonerating him.

Her body was found four weeks later in Leakin Park; she had been killed by manual strangulation. On September 20, 2022 Adnan Syed was released from Patuxent Institution in Jessup, Maryland after spending 23 years in jail. Judge, Melissa Phinn overturned his murder conviction.

i truly think it was the new bf. he came to work the next day after she died (the calculated death) with cuts and bruises all over himself and his hands were bandaged. i believe his mom helped him cover it up bc he worked at her company and wiped the camera footage.

IM LITERALLY LISTENING TO THE PODCAST ON THIS IN CLASS. ADNAN IS NO LONGER IN PRISON HE EAS JUST RELEASED IN SEPTEMBER IM PRETTY SURE. IM NOT SURE WHO KILLED HAE YET (idk if we’re gonna find out in class my english teacher made us sign a contract she made to not look it up therefore i won’t😂😂) BUT ISTG MY THEORY IS THAT JAY (Adnan’s friend that took part in the crime and also that snitched adnan out for the murder that adnan didn’t even commit) DID IT. IDK WHY HED DO IT BUT IN THE PODCAST AND POLICE INTERVIEWS HIS STORY CHANGES SO MUCH AND HE DOESNT MAKE MUCH SENSE ON A LOT OF THINGS. JUST MY THEORY THO!!!!

I was 9 years old when this happened. I grew up literally 20 minutes away. Myself and my entire immediate family still live in the area. This case really hit close to home for my mom. She was very affected by the case while raising myself and my brother. We all live separately at this point in our lives, but Hae Min Lee was found no more than 19 minutes from where we all currently live. There really are no words to express the sorrow I feel for this poor woman's family. I pray justice will soon prevail.

adnans case was very popular but it was in the 2000s so not many people remember it . but i highly recommend listening to serial !! i wouldn’t say she tries to solve the murder of hai min lee but she does poke holes in the story . it’s was the podcast that got me into true crime .
