Diagnosis and early intervention are critical during that first year for the child with any degree of loss. All babies born in hospitals in Arizona are screened for hearing loss.

I managed several hospitals under the NBHSP here in CA. Built a solid foundation with a lot of audiologist, ENTS, and medical facilities. I left my position to pass the torch to another screener I managed so she can gain insurance benefits. I joined another contractor company doing the same, managing the hearing screening program as a area manager. It was bad, most of the screeners left because I held a higher standard. I cleaned up the staff, hired and retrained, cleaned up all the data work which included weekly, monthly and annual statistical data. I wasn’t making much it was purely because I loved my little patients. Two years into the job after cleaning up two hospitals and having everything run smoothly I get fired without notice. The company I worked for claimed I failed to turn in documents for another employee who was resigning, this was false because she was unsure and she was still scheduled for the next two months. As I packed my belongings everyone was shocked including doctors, nursing staff, birth certificates unit, NICU unit. I pulled over and cried as I gave everything to this company and to falsely accuse me of something I didn’t not do just to save money. I found out 3 days later my own screener took my position with half the salary.

No. I supervise a Newborn Hearing Screening program near Washington, DC. The reason that many parents are discouraged from watching is that if a baby doesn't pass, it can be very very upsetting and stressful. However, if a parent insists, I inform them about that and then let them observe.

It's very important to do this test.. I got to know my baby is deaf by birth, After 1yrs..i wasn't aware of dis test

You just didn't see that part - it is standard to wash hands before and after handling the baby. It would take too long to show someone washing their hands.

Why do they insist that parents not view this procedure? never leave your newborn's side. i demanded to see this and had security sicked on me. Does that happen often?

So, "scientifically" we can justify putting a high frequency into a new born's brain to gather some statistical data - totally ignoreing the consequences of such event to that kid's entire life ?

Personally, I think the hearing screen test is a money grab. I certainly care about babies hearing, however I have seen so many false positives, and we are now told to not tell the parents that it could be from moisture in the ears or burning in the ears. We are told to only say that the baby failed the test and has to be referred to an audiologist
So all the ones who failed the test support the business of an audiologist. Meanwhile, the parents stress out over the possibility that their baby may not be able to hear. I think the test should be done several days later after the vernix is out of the ears and the moisture is out of the ears
This test certainly should be done before any baby is given Gentamicin And repeated after
