A Mormon bishop in Meridian, Idaho (Vienna Woods Ward) recently invited an inactive, non-believing member to “come back to church and participate.”

He did just that and was then “invited” to sit down before he finished bearing his testimony. Several members, including the 1st Counselor in the bishopric, spoke with him afterwards.

If the leader of your religion did things that aren't kosher for kids, you're probably in the wrong religion...

For those saying what he did was inappropriate. Being I am a ex Mormorn I can see and agree with why he did it. You can't just leave the LDS faith. You have people who stop over unannounced. Family, the Bishop and Missionaries call and stop over. There all analyzing what is wrong with you and why you left the one and only true Church. Even though you ask them to stop contacting you it continues. Then they start trying to contact your kids. The LDS Church has no respect for your privacy when you leave the Church. So this guy knew what he had to do to buy his freedom. That's all he was doing, buying his freedom. I threatened my Dad with doing this if the harassment from the LDS Church and Family members didn't stop. My Dad knew I was serious and within weeks all contact ceased.

19:00 Why is knowledge of polygamy so damaging or offensive to children? This whole "please, think of the children" shtick is a bit overdone, no? Absurd really. Especially when one considers a large portion of Mormonism is dedicated to bending the minds of the youth.

Don't invite people back if you don't want to hear why they left.

If doctrine is too heavy for kids to fully grasp, perhaps they shouldn't be baptizing them at 8 yrs old.

You invited him to speak and he spoke. And I have to say this young man was very brave.

"We have kids in here to indoctrinate" is what he meant to say.

If you need to worry about age appropriate historical material for your kids concerning your religious practices, there is a issue with the beliefs.

A lot of you guys in the comments are saying " He was so disrespectful! He was in someone's house and said what he felt "
Mormons do that too by going on a mission and knocking on people's houses wanting to share a message.

So this man was invited to share his testimony. He did so, and they cut him short because they’re didn’t like it. Then bishop got up, and gave the “correct” testimony. As if the bishop’s testimony was more authoritative and important.

The hesitation in his voice before he said “gay marriage”, as someone who grew up in the church I understand your bravery. Good job

“Dont talk about polygamy in front of my 9 year old daughter” - only 5 more years and she’s old enough to be one of Joseph’s wives!

Love how they don’t want to talk about polygamy in the founding of the church but happy to talk about sex and chastity in their babtismal interview when they are 8!
