Rachel Yehuda is a renowned professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience and the Director of the Center for Psychedelic Psychotherapy and Trauma Research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Specializing in the fields of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the intergenerational transmission of trauma, her groundbreaking research has significantly advanced our understanding of the mechanisms through which trauma affects individuals and is passed down to subsequent generations.

Yehuda's work has been pivotal in identifying the biological markers of PTSD, demonstrating how traumatic experiences can alter stress hormone regulation and genetic expression—changes that can be transmitted to the offspring of those who are traumatized. Her studies have explored the effectiveness of various treatment methods for PTSD, including the potential therapeutic uses of MDMA and other psychedelics in treating trauma-related disorders.

Throughout her career, Yehuda has published extensively, contributing to over 300 scholarly articles that explore the nuances of trauma's impact on the human psyche and body. Her dedication to unraveling the complexities of trauma and its treatment has not only provided deeper insight into PTSD but also offered hope and new directions for therapies to those affected by trauma across the globe.

I was assaulted by the police for jaywalking & being hard of hearing. Tackled from behind & beaten. Broke my jaw & dislocated my shoulder. It took years of work not to have an increased heart rate just from seeing officers. Even in film. Men & women I had always felt safe around & gotten along with were causing major panic. Which sucked. I generally dont get scared of things.

Of all the solutions, watching a lot of Brooklin 99 helped adjust my body's response 😂😂😂

I'm about to turn 30 next week and although It's been years since I was bullied in high school, I am still living with the trauma I've endured from it.

I like her explanation of a traumatic event being “a-water shed” moment. I might even add that when that moment occurs, it changes the persons perception of their experiences from that moment forward. It’s like there was life before the event occurred and there is life after the event occurred. Maybe it could be a christians individual representation of before christ (BC) and after Christs death (AD).

I am a domestic violence survivor. I have been assaulted physically over 100 times. It lasted 4 years. I don’t know if I’ll ever smile genuinely again or be a cheerful girl like I used to, but I do know me surviving has given me a great advantage. I feel more prepared to taken on any challenge since anything after that seems … easy. Stress, work, relationships to me they seem like small issues now. I’m grateful to be alive and I’m blessed to be safe.

I think it is more important how to deal and live with it.

Yep. My dad died when I was 15 and I was attacked by a Belgian malinois last year. Sometimes you don’t realize how intense it is until you find yourself back in that moment

The irony is its a small percentage of the people who have NEVER had trauma who flamboyantly boast of their "issues".

Could constant pressure/stress from the same things like bullying be a cause of PTSD since I was just bullied for 7, 000 days

That's not trauma, it's offensive to people with actual experiences of life or death when people start throwing this word around like it's a joke.

70% trauma? Sounds like you intend to "treat" all those people in order to secure your job.

In order to offset the consequences of trauma you all should eat more dark chocolate 🍫 70% or above made with good quality cacao beans! The ultimate food for the brain 🧠

It's funny how she makes such a mournful face, when talking about just the nature of life.
