Honestly, I would love it if you did an entire video on retinols, or on other skincare tips and recommendations that you learned when you worked at the dermatologist. With skincare becoming so huge on tik tok I worry that they (and myself) might not be always using it right or explaining it well enough and you gave the most thorough in depth explanation of retinols that I have seen in a while. I love hearing the science behind it and the reason that these “miracle” skincare products work

WOA! Tret is NOT a generic of retinol! Tretinoin is the strongest form of a Vitamin A derivative - retin-a. It’s RX only - and can cause way more irritation than retinol if used incorrectly. I use retinol for years and recently switched to tret. My skin is the best it’s ever been and I’m 30.
This isn’t the first time I’ve heard incorrect skin care knowledge from Laura! Abbey Yung or Cassandra Bankson got all the info on skin. Laura is here for everything else 💋

Your videos always make me so happy!! You’re just so entertaining. Tretinoin is NOT the same thing as retinol though. They are both vitamin A derivatives, but tretinoin you can only get with a prescription. It is all-trans-retinoic acid. Retinoic acid is what your skin eventually converts retinol into, so retinol is much weaker than tretinoin or any retinoic acid product, because retinol is not readily usable by the skin.
Another thing to note is that retinol is not considered an active ingredient so it isn’t regulated as a drug like tretinoin is. This means that the formulas from different brands vary A LOT. So some formulas may be wayyy more effective than others. I hope this helps someone in the comments!!

That Kenya spray is my FAVORITE texture spray. I have fine hair. When I curl it I spray it in afterwards and it just brings the whole look together. It smells SO GOOD too. Can’t live without it.
