I can't believe you fine folks neglected to mention the other side effect of the gelada's digestion: They are spectacularly flatulent. Constantly blasting the bumhorn. Their existence is an utter cacophony not just of strange cries and wobbles, but of gaseous eruptions, like a roaming volcano of noisome emissions. Magnificent animals.

Most people: "Herbivores don't look scary!"
Gelada: *"Hold my grass..."*

I remember Sir David Attenborough, talking about these monkeys any chance he got. And I see the appeal. That lip turn thing has always creeped me out, though.

This channel is great - Animalogic has become a regular part of my biology youtube channel rotation, and as an artist myself, this is exactly the sort of content I love to listen to while I work, but the time lapse drawings are part of what make your videos just as engaging for me to devote my full attention to. Really great informative and unique content all around

When you realize herbivore can be more intimidating than the most vicious and intimidating carnivore

Best part of this channel is learning about species that I would never have known about before 🙌 been watching for a few years and always amazing mini documentaries.

Great episode, Danielle!
The timelapse with the grazing Geladas at 3:53 is so cool! 🙌🏽
When we visited their high-altitude home to see just what makes these primates so unique, they were also grazing 24/7.

The geladas are beautiful and brilliant. I hope they stay safe. One thing people can do to help all animals is to buy detergent that comes in a sheet (like a dryer sheet). They also come in cardboard boxes so no plastic in the ocean or in Landfill.

You never disappoint. These are a fascinating species well worthy of greater study. If they have developed language beyond basic alarm calls, challenges, and appeasement it would be interesting to try and map the context in which different sound structures are employed. Congratulations on your new documentary.🖤🇨🇦

I'd love to see a series on the 500 or so primate species in the world the way you did the cats!

7:16 Welp, that's something I wasn't expecting to see this morning.

10:06 Just wow. That is such a human-looking expression! He looks like an elderly person that is very depressed and sick of living. Or like his mother or child or spouse just died. Just heartbroken. Definitely a mood going on there. So hopeless looking. 😢
