In this video, I’ll compare the Polaroid Hi-Print pocket photo printer vs Fuji Instax portable printer. If you’re looking for a new mini photo printer review, this video is for you! So, which portable photo printer is better? The Fuji Instax or the Polaroid hi-Print? One of my most common questions for people who use my Wanderlust Passport is what portable photo printer should they get. I did a review in 2020 and I am here to update that review to see which is better, the Fuji Instax or the Polaroid hi-Print.

The Polaroid Hi-Print and Fuji Instax have different designs and build quality. The Polaroid Hi-Print has a sleek and modern design that is available in white and black colors. It is lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry around in your pocket or bag. The printer uses a dye-sublimation printing process that produces high-quality prints with vibrant colors and sharp details.

On the other hand, the Fuji Instax has a retro design that resembles the classic Polaroid camera. It is available in different colors and has a sturdy build quality. The printer uses instant film to print photos, which produces a vintage look and feel. The prints are smaller in size compared to the Polaroid Hi-Print, but they have a unique charm that is popular among photography enthusiasts.

The print quality is one of the most important factors to consider when choosing a portable photo printer. The Polaroid Hi-Print uses a dye-sublimation printing process that produces high-quality prints with vivid colors and sharp details. The Fuji Instax, on the other hand, uses instant film to print photos. The prints have a vintage look and feel, with a white border around the edges.

• Fuji Instax printer review, and Polaroid Hi-Print review

Both printers are easy to use, but they have some differences in terms of usability. The Polaroid Hi-Print uses a mobile app that is available for iOS and Android devices. The app allows you to edit photos, add filters, and adjust the brightness and contrast before printing. The printer connects to your phone via Bluetooth, and the printing process takes less than a minute.

The Fuji Instax, on the other hand, does not require a mobile app to print photos. The printer has a built-in camera that allows you to take photos and print them instantly. The camera has basic features, such as a flash and brightness adjustment. The printer uses a button to eject the film, and the printing process takes a few minutes to complete.

Pricewise, the Polaroid Hi-Print is more expensive than the Fuji Instax, with a price range of $99 to $129. The Fuji Instax, on the other hand, is more affordable, with a price range of $49 to $99.

Both the Polaroid Hi-Print and Fuji Instax are great portable photo printers that offer different features and benefits. The Polaroid Hi-Print is ideal for those who want high-quality prints with vivid colors and sharp details. It is easy to use and comes with a mobile app that allows you to edit photos before printing. The Fuji Instax, on the other hand, is perfect for those who want a vintage look and feel. It has a built-in camera that allows you to take photos and print them instantly, without the need for a mobile app. It is more affordable than the Polaroid Hi-Print, but the prints are not as sharp and detailed. Ultimately, the choice between the two printers depends on your personal preferences and needs.

I guess my only comment is that even though it takes the Polaroid Hi Print takes longer you have to consider that the instax (which I am a super huge fan) take the same amount of time to create a print. The instax still has to take time for the print to show up because of the image process.... so the speed test is kind of a misnomer because the print emulsion is somewhat faster in comparison to instax because the image prints instantly it just takes 4 passes to complete the print... just a thought.

12:37 That is *NOT* ZINK paper. ZINK paper processing is ejected directly like the Polaroid instant film (right out of the printer). The process of CMYK is like professional photo printers do it: one color at a time, and it's exactly the same process KODAK/Canon/etc. printers do when you go to any shop to "reveal" your digital photos.

This was great. I'm picking up the polaroid because I want to put the stickers in my bullet journal and it was great to see this review! Glad to love the instax!

my husband's sister had an instax printer for her wedding. i've always wanted one and when i was able to actually try it, i really enjoyed it. the photo came out pretty good too, i ended up taking one and keeping it for myself instead of putting it in her guest book haha. ended up getting the dusky pink; can't wait to use it for myself.

Thanks. I have several Instax cameras and tried the printers, didn’t like the printers. As this comparison shows, the Polaroid photos look considerably better and they are larger. The Hi Print is now cheaper than the Mini printer too. I need to pick one up.

Thanks. I recently got the new Instax Wide, as I love the larger size print, which also means more detail. The Polaroid printer is a thermal printer, different from the Zink print. Canon has a thermal printer line which I've considered, the Canon Selphy, a portable one and a larger sorta-portable which produce large 6x4 prints. I've considered the larger one for home prints, the Selphy cp1300.

Things keep changing. I remember the instant Polaroid cameras, the quality wasn't so good, but thy were still amazing at the time.

All along the review seems the final verdict is clear, which is fine - although to my opinion - having bigger pictures (all prints are small anyway), when there is no real difference on printing time (as on the Fugi it simply takes time for post printing until photo is finally revealed), where Amazon delivery is 2d time (I assume you are not basing this printer as mass-lab-production) .

Regarding the waste, should not be a relevant parameter between the 2, as you stated "if you melted it all down, , maybe it's the same" (so why bringing this factor up at the beginning?!).

So all-in-all, from my point of view, printing quality wise and photo size wise - the Polaroid hi-print is a clear winner.

(BTW - I am in the process of finding the best mobile printer that fits my needs, I am not getting anything from any of the providers/brands).

Hmm the Polaroid looks significantly higher quality, bigger size, and yet quite a bit cheaper, right?

Please compare the Hi-Print to Kodak mini 3. The Kodak Mini 3 is much better than the Fuji Instax.

I have the Canon SELPHY square and SELPHY 1500 and love them! I also, like that my Square is sticky backed for journaling. I am thinking of getting the Polaroid Hi Print because it’s smaller then the square.

Thank you for this!! Going on a trip to Honduras and I really wanted to by a printer and this really helped me so much. I’m going with instax because of the of easy it is to find film and I love how they came out. Thank you again for the help

I have the Instax but I think mine maybe arrived broken. Anytime I load film all it will do is flash yellow. It never spits out the cover so I then can’t print in the app. I’ve tried the reset button a million times but I just can’t get anywhere with it. So upsetting as I bought it to bring on my holiday in Australia so I could add photos to my holiday journal as I go. But I guess not :(
