It's only been a day, but early first impressions are always very interesting to look back on. I thought I'd share with you guys exactly what I think of my new rMBP after only 1 day of use. Of course, I haven't had a chance to put this thing through it's paces yet, so expect more updates.

Thanks for watching! I hope you all enjoy...

great video tom!!!! one thing i would suggest is for your music library you could always get a 128gb sd card and keep your music on there. that way you don't use the super fast ssd just for music. because from what i see is that your sd card reads at 95MB/s so that is fast enough for playing music back for gigs and stuff. keep up the great work.

Okay now I'm a bit relieved. After seeing most of the unboxing reviews of the 15" I have to say that the trackpads are NOT all the same. I can see on yours that the right side of the trackpad seems to be a little more deeper and the gap is futher more than the left side. I have the same one and it's the same thing. It's not broken or anything I was just a little OC about it at first. Awesome machine I have to say! Awesome review mate!

Really excited that you got your new machine and are loving it! Can't wait for the speed tests and other videos that are coming soon. Do a bit of coverage on the Mac Pro too, can't forget about it now can ya? Lol!

Great video. I'd like to see a video of the things you do when you get a new Mac, how you set up it up etc.

It just makes me wanna buy one even more. I lack the money to buy one, but I'll be getting the top of the line late 2011 15" MBP, which ain't a bad machine after all. Enjoy your MacBook Tom, I'm sure it's gonna be a sweet ride with it ;)

Cheers on your new laptop! I've been on the cutting edge of Apple products for years so it's been a long time since I felt that 'first-time-brand-new' feeling. I'll never forget my first Macbook Pro in 2004. That unique smell just hits you straight away. I'm glad that hasn't changed. Every time you open a new Mac it smells just the same. Seems silly I suppose, but when you had the same reaction (in your unboxing vid) it really brought me back. Thanks of sharing!! - BTW, I use a 27" iMac for main production and a 13" MBP when I need to be mobile. Best of both worlds. :o)

One thread on one core of this thing has a higher geekbench score than the multicore score on the Core 2 Duo laptop I have right now, lol. And forget about the multicore score. I'm getting one of these soon, the difference should be huge.

Look up the StorEDGE SD cards or something similar. Takes up the SD card slot, has fast transfer time and can add 64 or 128 gigs to your Mac. That's where I hold all of my music, etc.

Great video! I would have bought one as well, but I went with a maxed out MacBookAir instead... but where did the MDD G4 that was on your desk go Tom?

Finally someone who agrees. Tired of people bitching about the rMBP not having legacy ports

ItsMyNaturalColour Should I get the 21.5" iMac with a slower processor and smaller hard disk or as I can afford it, go for the better specs so that it will last longer. I will likely upgrade when I go to university in 4-6 years but would keep this machine to do serious projects on.. Thanks, Nic

i would like a new 2013/14 macbook pro, but the main factor is money. my early 2008 macbook pro is getting me by just fine, i use it mainly for recording ( i record using logic pro 9), but from time to time i do see my limitation when using reverb and delays etc, it also starts to struggle when you are recording multiple tracks for example recording a drum kit, but tbh the 2008 macbook pros are still capable machines for sure :)

Hi, I am plannimg on buying a refurbished macbook from the apple website. I can get a Macbook pro retina 13 inch with a 2.6 ghz dual core i5, 8gb ram, iris graphics, and 512 gb ssd. Or i can spend 100 bucks more and get a 15 inch macbook pro retina with a 2.0 ghz quadcore i7, 8gb ram, iris pro graphics, and 256 gb ssd. I plan on using my mac for schoolwork, media consuming, and light programming and a little gamimg(civ 5, minecraft, tf2, etc. I plan on taking this macbook places pn the weekend but not to school everyday. I was wondering which one you think would be a better buy for me. Thanks.

Can you do a from windows to yosemite tutorial or like tips for macs. I noticed you opened and clocked all the applications super quick without dragging the mouse. Thanks
