Adam A3X unboxing and setting up (studio monitor speakers)

The video shows the contents of Adam A3X box and the process of connecting the two speakers to a sound source.

About the sound (after several months of usage):
- they are bad at playing sound lower the about 80 Hz (not for monitoring bass);
- I don't mean they lack bass -- but the lows are not detailed enough for monitoring;
- noise from the tweeters (maybe a defect of my pair);
- rich and powerful sound;
- they need decoupling from a table or other surface that can resonate, otherwise they may sound like chineese multimedia;
- sound is very accurate and detailed.

Monitoring music with crucial lows -- only with a sub.
I use them for piano music and Adams A3X are very good at it.
And these speakers are ideal for leisure listenig :)

The noise you hear when no sound is playing is noise from your PC.  You need to upgrade your sound card or buy a usb DAC

Hey mate, are you happy with these babies? I have M audio bx8a and i dont think they are flat enough so i want to upgrade. Do you recommend for rock genre mixing? I read some reviews about its lack of low response.

the level of noise they produce when no sound is playing is maybe beacouse of the connection by the unbalanced RCA cables and your audio card. with good balanced cables like xlr it should not be so loud this noise i Guess

I think the hissing tends to be an issue with studio monitors. I don't know why, but people always notice hissing. I don't notice any from my hifi amp, until you go close, about 10cm. Unless I have the amp volume set very high, and that was noise from the computer's "crappy" inbuilt card, which is a non issue for the volumes I listen at. You'd think by now they'd have figured out how to make an amp that doesn't hiss...

As for the port noise, I wonder who decided to cheap out on the ports and use non flared ones...it would hardly cost much for a company to mass manufacture flared ports instead of standard ones.

Dude that noise can be fixed by simply turning the speaker itself down and then using your mixer to give the speaker more

Go and get some high-quality shielded cables.

They stand on my desk and i listen to music with them (no recording). I own a Xonar Essence StX II sound card. I don't hany any of the describes issues. I like them more after I reduced treble with the tweeter level regulator (only a bit). I was a bit too extreme before.

that quiet noise is probably a ground loop. grab a x-hum eliminator from sweet water.

It just gets very tiring to turn the monitors up and down on the volume individually :/ I were about to set this up, but I somehow managed to fail doing so. So I'll stick to my XLR cables for now -.-

Perhaps there's a flaw with your monitors? I haven't had any noise problem with my A5X, except of the punchy bass they produce. I agree on that point that they are not very impressing at monitoring the low frequencies, but they are brilliant at the mid and highs. A sub for these are highly recommended, or atleast buy a model bigger that can produce the bass. A7X for example are playing the bass just fine. But I'm going after Genelecs 8040A after I grow tired of my Adam A5X.

I have a pair of them. I would never change. Crystal clear sound. Amazing resolution. Perfect tool for nearfield control in any kind of music.
