Where Canon seems to be misstepping by closing off their mount for third party manufacturers, I'm glad to see Nikon is expanding it with more affordable options; kind of don't really care that it may or may not be a Tamron optical design since it has first party lens mount intelligence and the Nikon coatings. It's great to see a constant f/2.8 be the cheapest lens in their wide angle zoom offerings.

Nikon has always had the best glass. With the Z9 and upcoming cameras they will be back at the top, if the new cameras are on par with the Z9

Take a look at the diagrams of the nikon 17-28 and the tamron 17-28... It looks like the exact same lens to me, even the MFT charts look eeriely similar

Yeah, Nikon releases rebranded Tamron glass at a premium well over the Tamron themselves and and then aim for entry players to grab some Nikon shit. How, on earth, does that makes any sense? If it's the exact same glass as Tamron's, I'll definitely pick up a better and *extremely-capable* Sony body for the extra dollars and buy the OG Tamron lenses at the discounted rate! Wtf is wrong with Nikon since 2018 bruh?

So 17-28 2.8 and 28-75 2.8 lenses are now produced by Tamron with Nikon label on it.
Of course Nikkor Z are more expensive than identical Tamron lenses for Sony e-mount, but I got it - label costs a little ;-)

Dumb question, but why are these Nikon Z lenses so much more expensive than the older F mount lenses? Is the glass that much better, or they have better/faster focusing or what? Did they move from F to Z just so they can charge more?
