You can also put them all in a container and have them keep picking items up that way I highly reccomend greedy hands mod to make it all much more quicker

Fallout 4 fixed this "glitch". In Skyrim this "glitch" can back fire. Sometimes when you get the items back they come back as stolen.

This is not a mod. I figured this out years ago. It’s a little annoying but it works. You can also put an item in a container “any kind of container will do” and put your items in the container and have your companion lot the container.

Use a container or even a corpse. Far much easier and you avoid to miss or lose something, especially in dirty closed spaces.

Also you can set your carry weight through console commands but I like this trick more except it doesn't work with dogmeat unfortunately he just starts dropping the things at your feet

I do this in fo4 often, i tried in vr last might no good or need to move items to more open space no dialog saying can't do that

I just use dogmeat and lonewanderer perk and i can grab just about anything i want

This is an unreliable technique. Frequently I will drop multiple items and assign my companion to pick them up. The companion seems to pick them up and the items disappear from the floor. Later when reviewing my companions inventory I don't see those parts. When I go back to the location where I dropped them I find them on the floor.
