The ONLY Way to Glue PVC and ABS Together!

Keyword for this video is TRANSITION! It's NEVER good to cut corners, guys!...especially with PLUMBING!

Contrary what many think, ABS and PVC are **NOT** the same thermoplastic materials, and therefore require different adhesives! Too often I've seen plumbers and apprentices swishing together two different globs of glue in hope that their pipe & fittings will stick...NO!

Here I happen to be using #Sluyter ABS/PVC Transition cement, but any other reputable brands, such as #Oatey or #Ipex work just as fine.

A bit of due diligence at the onset goes a loooong way!

So if you like this video, please do "plunge" that LIKE button to a healthy shade of blue. Please also be sure to subscribe to this channel to keep up with a wide variety upcoming videos. I plan to cover topics suitable to the entire spectrum of the Plumbing field - from Newbie Do-it-yourselfer, to the ever-critical hardened Journeyperson.

As always, please do be sure to leave your comments if there's anything you'd like to see in the future!

Not sure what code your area follows but in the upc i believe transition glue is against code and the only thing you can really use to connect pvc and abs is a mission band.
Not a nitpick just curious if different jurisdictions are more lax about it than upc

I was watching through all your videos and was just commenting on the water heater video. I though this was funny. While we pretty much aligned with you guys on water heater codes, this situation would be illegal in Oregon. We can offset a tailpiece but done the way you did in the video it would make what we call an “s trap” which is illegal.
