2015 has been a year of strained relations between India and Nepal. As Nepal adopted their new Constitution, violent protests of the Madhesi people broke out in the Terai region to object to their recognition and representation under the document.

Afraid of spillover violence in the neighbouring state of Bihar, which is currently in the process of electing it's new Legislative Assembly, India formed a "blockade" along the border, preventing essential items like fuel & groceries from entering this small Himalayan nation-state.

Meanwhile, the Narendra Modi Government hopes that Nepal's Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, will amend the Constitution to be more inclusive of their entire population.

I'm sorry for being so ignorant...but what holiday season are you referring to? Being from Europe the only holiday season I'm ever told about is 'christmas' and sometimes 'ramadan'.

Totally flawed and biased. This little boy does not know what India has been doing to Nepal. There were at least two economic blockades previously imposed by India to Nepal. And yes Madhesis are only about 22% and it is very untrue that they are not employed in public services. Most docs engg lecrurers teachers and several govt officials in Nepal are Madhesis.

51% is the total population of terai region including all the ethnic groups in nepal. Madhesis specifically are about 24% and when tharus included, they're about 32% and so are their representitives in the CA which is very much fair.
