Sometimes it becomes a game to figure out how to keep an old machine running, long after any rational person would have moved on. That's where all the best stories come from. Keep on keepin' on!

I had one of those in 2016. Got it for $400. 70, 000 original miles that sat. Replaced all the brake lines, ball joints, brakes all around, did some body work, tune up. Got it inspected on Friday, Saturday a kid pulled out in front of me and totalled it.

This is so awesome! I have a 3.9 L 1996 dodge Dakota with 340, 000 miles that I love.

I learned to stop becoming emotionally attached to vehicles. Big mistake that ends up costing a lot of money.

My dads got a 4wd 1990 Dakota and I love it

Just acquired a 66 C10. Can’t wait to spend all my money on her!

Mostly cosmetic, thankfully. One squeaky pulley, a dodgy wiper blade, and the headlights won’t come on. Totally worth the 05 TDI Passat I traded

They make them better now. I prefer the older styles but there really is no comparison. Just from the 60’s to the 80’s there was a vast improvement on reliability.

My buddy's dad had one of those little dodge trucks from the early 90s. We rode back roads, got drunk as hell and went offroading in that thing when we were kids and it was a 2 wheel drive. I'm pretty sure the damn thing is still running to this day

That intermediate shaft is about ready to let Jesus take the wheel

87 Dakota was ❤last carbureted vehicle I owned. Back when no one would rebuild a carb.

There's parts on my early 90 Ford they don't make. Can say my patch welds and custom part making skills are getting better.

I have an 02 Durango. She was my dream car and my first car. Love that thing to death. But in the back of my mind, there's the knowledge that one day I might not be able to find parts and I get worried how soon that day will come. Fix all I can while I can.

My first truck was the same as that one! Cool.

I have an '03 Dakota that's suffering from Wisconsin weight reduction. It isn't as bad as that 87 but it's still good money after a bad cause to try and keep it alive.

1987!! I'd have parts made for it if needs be, replacement engines whatever that thing needs to keep working.

I saw 2 of these at LKQ pickapart in santefe springs ca. last week. No rust, complete trucks too.
