ABOUT TIK 📝

History isn’t as boring as some people think, and my goal is to get people talking about it. I also want to dispel the myths and distortions that ruin our perception of the past by asking a simple question - “But is this really the case?”. I have a 2:1 Degree in History and a passion for early 20th Century conflicts (mainly WW2). I’m therefore approaching this like I would an academic essay. Lots of sources, quotes, references and so on. Only the truth will do.

This video is discussing events or concepts that are academic, educational and historical in nature. This video is for informational purposes and was created so we may better understand the past and learn from the mistakes others have made.

THOSE WHO DO NOT LEARN FROM HISTORY ARE DOOMED TO REPEAT IT

Not only did they age restrict it and not send it out to non-subscribers, but subscribers have reported not getting notified about the video, and the video wouldn’t play for some of those who managed to find it. You have to be logged into the platform in order to even see it. Views are currently 63% lower than unusual. Not sure if it’s country-blocked either, but apparently you must be 18 years or over to learn about the Holocaust now...

This is why you should ALWAYS check back at 5pm on Mondays for new videos. If I’m going to miss a video, I’ll let you know in advance.

Fortunately, nowadays no one is being called a fascist for having a different opinion

Orwell's words have aged beautifully, like a fine wine.

Almost 80 years later and this could easily have been written yesterday. Funny how history works.

"Everyone I disagree with is a fascist" quite a relevant catharsis. Well done Tik, really appreciate you sharing Orwell's thoughts.

Wait... Orwell actually said all this? Damn, he really was on another level of awareness

Wow, it's interesting to know that even 70+ years ago, the word Fascism was used so much as a form of political slander that it was effectively meaningless then too.

Thank God we've simplified it today to "Anyone I disagree with".

Orwell, "Everyone thinks that everyone else is a Fascist."

In short, fascism is any thing I do not like or approve of. Therefore Liver and Onions must be fascist.

Orwell was given a rare gift, and made sure he shared it with us. There's never been anyone quite like him.

Nineteen eighty-four was one of those books that left me shook for several days after I read it.

Meanwhile Google knows that I am here and am leaving this comment.

I imagine the problem must come from actual, Italian fascism under Mussolini having elements that are normally considered both "right" and "left". People who get too caught up in viewing the world purely through some arbitrary political axis have a hard time figuring out what fascism is. It hates communism and capitalism, it hates traditional monarchy and aristocracy but loves hierarchy. It has national worker unions but let's people continue to "own" their factory (as long as they do EXACTLY what the state commands, some ownership...). It has elements of both sides of the 2-sided spectrum and elements that belong to neither (Just goes to show how useless a political spectrum is. Like how a "night watchman state" and an absolute monarchy are both considered "right wing").

I think a lot of the British upper class before WW2 also muddied the waters forever by being idiots and not knowing what fascism was. A lot of aristocrats and wealthy businessmen stupidly joined or supported fascist organisations because they just saw the hierarchy and anti-communist aspects of fascism and stupidly thought that these were a bunch of extreme conservatives. They quickly started realising that fascists were NOT capitalist conservatives and quickly started backing out. I assume that is why people frequently think of fascism as some sort of "extreme conservatism". Well, that combined with socialists and communists doing everything they can to make people think that fascism isn't just something invented by a bunch of socialists who thought that the "class warfare" thing wasn't working very well and decided to make some changes. Cue the "Mussolini killed socialists" argument.

Fascist: An individual who is pro-bundles of sticks.

The fascist economic system is neither capitalist nor marxist socialist, it is the third position: Corporatism.
As Benito Mussolini said: "No individuals nor groups (political parties, associations, labour unions, classes) outside the State. For this reason Fascism is opposed to Socialism, which clings rigidly to class war in the historic evolution and ignores the unity of the State which moulds the classes into a single, moral and economic reality. In the same way Fascism is opposed to the unions of the labouring classes. But within the orbit of the State with ordinative functions, the real needs, which give rise to the Socialist movement and to the forming of labour unions, are emphatically recognised by Fascism and are given their full expression in the Corporative System, which conciliates every interest in the unity of the State."
