E39 is remarkably quiet car, which I loved. My current E92 I had done some extra sound proofing.

I had I 525i e39 its a good car actually, very simulate in power

Seems like it's doing the same thing as mine where the converter doesn't seem like it's fully locked in 5th and you can see the RPM needle wiggle.

You need a dragy speedo for more accurate top speed.

Terrible fuel efficency compared to modern 4 cylinder 2 liter diesel engines with even better performance. But reliability... ;)
