As someone who began designing in the late 90s, amidst the introduction of layer styles and an explosion of fonts, guess which things the design world of the era abused? Font overload and effect overload. Bevel & glow is kind of a meme for us industry vets, so seeing younger designers marvel at the shiny things is both nostalgic and traumatic 🤣

Perhaps a powerful plugin, but when it comes to flashy trends, just because you can, doesn't mean you should 😎 Also, if any of the audience is focused on UX or UI design, advising impressionable viewers to ignore the "controversy" and take real accessibility concerns "with a grain of salt" is quick path to failing at UX. The whole point of UX is to consider the users, so if there are qualified criticisms affecting usability, they should probably not be casually dismissed, because shiny and glossy. ✨

Tldr:; there are good reasons why visual trends like skeuomorphism faded out about ten years ago, and less is usually more when it comes to UI. Good vid(s) though mate 👍
