I want to talk about why the brand new Toyota Tacoma 4th Generation is not selling well and list my reasoning for why it is not selling well. The 4th gen Tacoma is not selling well partly due to high prices but there are other reasons such as money being tight and people not trusting the new engine. I do believe the new 4th Generation Tacoma is a good vehicle to buy, but it is going to have some uphill challenges for a while until it is selling well.

I also think that people are realizing that what used to be standard on the previous Tacos are being stripped away and now being charged extra. For example the previous TRD Off Road came standard with power driver seat, bed cleats, sliding rear window, Inverter in bed..Not anymore..I think Toyota thought people would blindly buy it, they were wrong.

Interest rates, price increases, and 1st year model are the main reasons they ain’t selling

I buy m cars new and drive my money’s worth out of them for a long time. So Here is my problem with the 2024 Tacoma - There is NO WAY a turbocharged engine will last as long the same engine that is normally aspirated.

New Tacos are to expensive and should have kept the six cylinder

You left out the most important factor in your 1Q 2024 sales numbers, there weren’t that many 2024 Tacoma available!

How many 3rd gens were still being sold in Q1 2024?

How do you explain the 17-18k that sold in May then?

2400 miles so far on my 4th Gen Taco.. 0 issues. Yes, it was expensive, but so are other midsized trucks. I wanted a fully loaded TRD Offroad. I considered the ZR2 but I didn't care too much for the interior. The AT4X was the same price as my Taco but I feel GM cut corners on features and I don't like the rear of the truck. I also considered the new Ranger but the trim I wanted isn't available in the US (Wildtrak). I will never purchase another Nissan because Nissan USA is more useless than the USPS. Half your reasons are only temporary or opinionated; it's a new generation, of course they're going to have lower sales with limited mod support--this is true for all new trucks, even the Frontier (which has been out longer).

I just spent half the day at a Toyota dealership today. 2024 TRD Sport 4x2 ... $51k. What the ... nope nope nope. Complete base model SR with pretty much nothing (and ugly as all get out rims) ... $41k. Nope.

Yesterday I had my 23 TRD in Toyota for an oil change.
I asked the Service Writer if they were having any issues with the 24 Tacoma. She told me that they were CONSTANTLY in the shop for MAJOR RECALLS and that she wouldn’t have have a new Tacoma because they’re a HUGE POS vehicle that are constantly breaking down.

The price isn't high, its insanely out of touch with reality. Half the truck is just a bed with no interior costs to it. Toyota needs to fire all the pricing division employees.

They lost me when the V6 disappeared. I've had 3 Toyota Tacoma's all V6 and am presently driving a 2015 4 door, V6, 4X4 Pro, Auto, TRD, long bed with 46, 000 miles. I've had good luck with the V6 and don't like the 4 cylinders at all, especially the ones with the turbos. Before I would buy a Toyota Tacoma 4 cylinder no matter how it is equipped, I would drive to a Nissan Dealership and buy a Frontier like my neighbor did in May 2024. Hopefully Nissan is looking at the Toyota Tacoma debacle and will take note "If it isn't broke don't fix it."
What a disaster, I thought Toyota was smarter than that. The Toyota Tacoma's are already stacking up at Dealers and the Toyota Tundra is not selling because of those recalls on 2022 V6 engine failures, somebody neglected to flush metal shavings out of the blocks after machining resulting in spun rod bearings and crankshaft bearings resulting in locked up engines, 102, 000 recalls. Most will be rebuilt with short blocks. Toyota claims Dealers charge back will be $24, 000 to $28, 000 for the rebuild, I don't know whether to believe that or not but that's what they say.

As already stated-its a mexican made over priced 4 cylinder turbo that everyone knows will not last long term-good luck to anyone that purchases these Tacomas because their going to need it!!

FYI: the flickering light behind you monitor is annoying.

Obviously your not mechanical..if you were you would be anti turbo too.unless your racing and have sponsors. Loo..the engine will wear out earlier especially when asking a smaller engine to do the job a bigger one

Four cylinder and the mileage isn't much better than my V6.

The 2024 Tacoma screams KIA to me. Has a cheapness to it that bugs me. Comparison shopping and the Colorado has so much more quality built in but still a turbo not without its own issues.

Looks cheaply made IRL, especially when you are aware of the ridiculous price tag
