the seats are actually tilted by 2 degrees on the carts so when you actually drop into the hole, it technically is vertical

My friend was on it when it broke down, right at the point where it’s hanging above the drop. When they fixed it after about half an hour, they had no way to tell them, so they just let it drop

Fun fact: there is also an oblivion at Gardaland (a theme park in Italy). It’s there because Merlin entertainments owns both parks

While it can have a very high capacity, Merlin generally doesn't run all the trains because the queues are so short anyway.
So this brings its capacity down to about 1200 riders per hour.

The creation of Oblivion lead to me riding Sheikra in 2006 and my home park of Cedar Point now has Valravyn. Ill probably never make it to Alton but i thank their prototype rides leading to some of my favorite rides.

It's ironic it has high throughput, because the reality is the minutes sitting on the brake run waiting for the other train to be loaded. I didn't realise it was so high though

Oblivion themed condoms existed.

In 2011 there was a toss up for sponsorship between Fanta and a well known Beer company. Fanta won obviously. The beer company's plan was something along the lines of 'Drink yourself into Oblivion '. They felt that it might be too adult themed, so Fanta won.
