Was just in Kihei with my family on our way back from Kauai. The restaurants and shops were extremely happy we were there and we were happy to support them.

Please keep Maui in mind for future trips. They aren't looking for a handout, just a hand.

Only thing they should keep out is these investors from trying to capitalize on a tragedy. Especially Oprah.

May our Father God in Heaven pour out his love, peace, healing and blessings upon all of those affected in Maui and around the world...

It's nice to hear from the merchants that they want people to come to Maui. I was concerned about using resources that should go to the local people.

Of course, people need to work. That is what keeps their economy alive. ❤

I think I can humbly speak for our wonderful state, Hawaii . . . we're still open.
As some have spoken initially about the effects of tourism at this time, Lahaina is closed. For people who wish to peak at the destruction, please respect the devastation and loss of life associated with this tragedy.
Although for the rest of the island of Maui, and the entire state, we welcome all who want to visit our resilient state with ALOHA!
Mahalo (thank you) to all of your generosity and well wishes. We will fight to rise from these ashes.

The restaurants should start accepting gift card donations online. One of our northern California fires had a similar effect on local business. People started selling gift cards as donations. If you can’t get there, buy a gift card. Much love 🙏❤️. Sidenote, our 2018 fire had a similar effect in Southern California. Half of the businesses near Ground Zero closed. I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this. Try the gift card donations. 🙏

Love Maui. Try to go every year. Me and my wife have a trip booked to Kihei for the end of November. At first we were going to cancel because of messages like Jason Momoa's. Then I started watching videos like this one and we didn't cancel. My heart breaks for Lahaina.

Now what Oprah ? You and your camera crew got thrown out of the shelters. 🔊 " You get a pillow, and you get a pillow, and you get a pillow ❗ ". That's just for your own glory Oprah...

So glad to hear this. Have a trip planned for next fall and was unsure if we should cancel and this helps me to decide. I did not want to be disrespectful or part of the problems.

80% of the small businesses that survived government "safe and effective" policies were in Lahaina.

I would like for celebrities to fund people like me to travel to Maui to help cleanup and rebuild!

Not to mention, a good chunk of Lahaina residents are employed in Kihei, wailea, Kahului, upcountry.
