Playing Tyranids:
-Expectation: *Swarms and swarms of Army Ants, destroying all in their path.*

-Reality: *Maleceptor:*

When the Maleceptor was introduced in Shield of Baal, the fluff for it was utterly terrifying. It is really nice to see their tabletop incarnation match their lore.

Actually, you can prevent anti-psyker armies from shutting you down. Just hold the malceptor, neurothropes, and zoanthropes in the back. And send the powers to the front using synaptic link. Then the actual caster is too far away to use deny the witch.

The only hard counter are units immune to psychic powers like sisters of silence the single Imperial assassin.

I love how it’s progressively gotten stronger and stronger. By 11th ed the thing will become the 5th Chaos god lmaoo

Imagine casting smite better then an army of literal space wizards powered by a god

Played Tyranids a few editions ago, loved them. I play T sons now also. This style of psychic list is crazy. Can not wait to see it on the table, either playing with it or against it!

Me and my friend brainstormed (heh) an idea: Just spam the psykers - 3 neuros, 3 full zoanthropes and 3 maleceptors. (vanguard detatchment)
We would take the psychic ritual secondary.
Goal: a neurothrope with the adaptive biology warlord trait generated would sit in the middle and cast the pyschic ritual. This neurothrope would be surrounded by a squad of zoanthropes of which a maleceptor would cast catalyst on them to make them defensively difficult to kill.
Leviathan for the army wide transhuman and the psychic.
The warlord would be a neurothrope with Synaptic Tendrils and the resonance barb relic.
The neuros healing output is fairly large, since they trigger off of any psychic wounds rather than just the ones they deal like in 8th. This makes it so that the middle blob is loaded with invulns, feel-no-pains, transhuman, -1 strength on incoming ranged attacks and healing from the random mortals hopefully generating 15 VP.

I know this list isnt optimal, lacking obsect and meaningul damage outside the psychic phase and the army has 15 casts a turn I think, with 7 options besides smite, but the zoans basically guarentee the smites at a squad size of 6.

Plus there is a little bit of room for another unit in a 2000pt game.

Thought I would share ^^.

the combination of psychic and claws has always beeen my favorite fro ma fluff perspective, forgoing guns unless forced. I think I can actually pull it off now. Hormagaunts make fantastic tar-pits, humble carnifexes are cheap enough to almost swam, and backed up with frightening brain bugs? Good times.

Their consistency is insane! I love this combo.

I took the new Maleceptor to a game last night vs Eldar. That chonky brain bug sat on one flank and SINGLE HANDILY killed 5 units. In one turn I did 22MW with most of those being none LoS. It was insane and everything I ever wanted. So excited for this new codex!

did not even get to move it, but hey atleast it was a great distration carnifex

Malceptor will go down with concentrated fire. Which really shuts down the volume of mortals. But as you mentioned in the video, during that time you are scoring points and have support pieces to make it hard for them to do that. Harpy and Winged Hive Tyrant can pressure early on. Preferably the the former, as you need the WHT for utility in the late game.

Use the "at least" option on anydice to get a clearer view of the percentage for 7+, 11+ etc.

This is an interesting combo, I still need to pick up the Malceptor kit, although the toxicrene has been on my wish list for awhile now, lol.

You know what's nuts, the psychic power witchfire for hydra, each friendly model within 3" of an enemy unit you roll a dice, you roll 3 if have any monsters within 3". For each 5+ it's a mortal wound, so swarming with hydra can be pretty nuts if you cast witchfire which throws out a max of 6 mortal wounds

I too am disenfranchised by GK lack of psychic. Its just a teleport and 4++ now. But now Im so invested into them with over 3000pts..

I would love to create a crusher stampede psyker-heavy list, and the maleceptor combo is right what I needed :))))
