Been reading up on the VPAF during the war and you have to give them credit for making the most of the few planes they had, using their radar network to best effect, and taking advantage whenever American tactics gave them an opportunity.

Some things are inaccurate, but it doesn't matter. That shot of the sidewinder was bloody amazing, loved that. Very good.

Well, it's kind of weird to see this represented quite this way. The North Vietnamese were very much guided by their GCI (ground control intercept), following strict Soviet doctrine. It'd be one shot at the Thuds - hit and run - and then pretty much regroup and be vectored to the following group of aircraft to hit the area, all guided by ground radar. Not really given to hang around and dogfight for various reasons, not the least of which because they didn't have many planes to begin with. On top of that, the Thud was built for speed (mainly to drop nuclear bombs on a supersonic dash across Soviet targets), so they'd just lit the burners and be only a distant memory for those MiGs (the 105 wasn't much of a dogfighter). Guns and SAMs were the main worry.

People keep saying but the F-105 is faster, but the thing is at slow speeds the Mig-17 had higher rates of acceleration, that is why throughout the Vietnam war, the Mig's constantly took them out.

Great job (although there maybe a little Hollywood in the scenes). I mean its about time the Vietnamese Pilots especially their ace pilots should share their stories. We have seen the US pilots side of how they downed the MIG. For me there nothing but admiration and respect for both sides.

The part where the n.v.a.f. pilot drops his gear to slow thr aircraft because he's blacked out from the high g maneuver is sick af. I wonder if they were really trained to perform that in the even of a blackout?! This is pretty cool
