1st winbox can handle the connection on layer2 (useful if you haven't assigned an ip to any interface)...
2nd using winbox you can complete disable the web Interface (e.g. for security purposes )
3rd winbox is much more responsive
4th winbox offers the Safe Mode => any config made isn't persistent at Reboot until you save it explicit;)
thats the obviously advantages of winbox

Two neat features of RouterOS:
1. Click the ... after the address field in winbox and it will do a layer 2 discovery for other Tik equipment. You can then use the MAC address to connect to the router instead of the IP
2. If you think you are going to make a config change that might affect your ability to reconnect then enable Safe Mode and any config changes will be applied as you make them but not committed unless you take the router out of Safe Mode, the router reverts to previous settings when it detects the connection broke before being taken out of Safe Mode.

2 is especially useful as Tik equipment is usually located in inaccessible locations eg Towers and or remote.

The hAP is not the rypical use case for MikroTik equipment which is more used in backbone and routing especially in the WISP market which is where MikroTik grew out of...

I am using winbox instead of the web interface. Features are identical but in terms of system response and setting up the router winbox is quicker and more robust.

You should manage the Mikrotik with Winbox. It is much easier. Once you start drilling down through the settings, Winbox makes those changes much easier.

With Winbox You can save the router login. When managing multiple routers on a network, you can easily log into each router without the web hassle by saving a list of connected routers.

Upgrading is as easy as dragging a file to the folder

We use Mikrotik for routing and Ubiquiti for the AP/CPE devices.

Any indication of how many connections this device can handle? Always on the look out for a cheap and friendly Wi-Fi 4 router/access points for small cafe use - where there are lots of users coming and going but bandwidth isn't top priority. Usually install the TP-LINK TL-WA801ND but that really does struggle with more than 15 connections

Hello, thanks for great videos, now with awesome quality. Have a setup today with a HP Proliant DL360 G3 running Pfsense with 250/100Mbit/s . Thinking of replacing the old hardware with something else, Edgerouter, USG or just a new pfsense-box, in my setup is about 50units with VPN, IPTV ( IGMP Proxy ) and VOIP. Any suggestions?

I have the same box but i bought in amazon and already comes with vpn setup by LibertyShield, the problem they setup they own passwd, i when i try to resetr the router i cant :( its anyway i can flash the image? without router password?

Boss. I have this router. But it's firmware is from a vpn company. And it's their own firmware they said. How to put the original firmware in the router?
Where can I find the firmware? Can you please give me the firmware and give me some little guide?
