My favorite thing about A Stitch in Time is that it's an entire letter from Garak to Bashir. Julian was expecting probably 10 pages, and instead he got an entire novel! That is love.

gosh, i hate it when producers noticing that the audience is shipping a same sex ship and reacting with seperating the characters -.-

In the recent DS9 documentary, Ira Steven Behr (the head writer) admitted that they should’ve had Garak come out to Bashir after The Wire

DS9 is so underappreciated! I love Garashir and so glad that there's been a slight resurgance in fic. So many possibilities! <3

Garashir was honestly one of my first ships. My dad and I watched DS9 together when Netflix first became a thing and I was so invested! He didn't have the heart to tell me it wasn't going to happen.

I'm a huge fan of this ship, and especially the openness about it that the actors shared at cons. It's my understanding that they even did skits on stage that included pretty blunt references to the romantic underpinnings of the relationship. Trek is my first fannish love, and G/B is my favorite Trek ship! Well, so far. I'm digging Discovery too :)

Their affair was about as "covert" as Garak's attempts to hide the fact he was clearly also a spy.

Y'all remember the TNG episode where they visit the Deep Space 9? I guess it was in season 6. Bashir definitely had a crush on Data, no one can tell me otherwise

The thing about "garashir" as opposed to the gay relationship on Discovery is that the relationship on STD... Sorry ST:D Is Established. The relationship on DS9 was one that developed - an angle VERY RARE in TV in terms of gay relationships. That almost NEVER HAPPENS! and that both characters were Career Military... With DADT being HUGE at the time DS9 came out... No wonder Garashir was discouraged! But growing relationships are for straight people, g*d forbid we see a show on TV that explores how gay relationships build, especially between people who are open or curious! Holy hat trick, the world would explode!
And don't even get me started on Paris and Chakotay on Voyager! I have a story on that.
Sincerely, gen-x-er who grew up on this stuff.

I'd love to see the alternate universe where DS9 was written at a more accepting time, where they really could have leaned into this, because this is like the best ship!

I could not get into star trek for nothing, me being born in 96 and not in America or Uk is a big hinderance on getting to watch it and enjoy it. But I watched Discovery on netflix recently and loved it, am very interested in Star Trek and wanted to watch one of the oldies but nothing gained my interest. When I saw gif sets of DS9 on tumblr, I was so taken aback by how diverse and gorgeous this cast was. Siddig getting my attention right away (He aged like fine wine btw) so I tuned in on netflix earlier this year and it is the best decision I ever made. I came for the eye candy and stayed for these complicated political and social plots that are still relevant today. Sisko is such a fantastic captain, and as a black man, he is nothing like the stoic or comedic archetypes they usually give to his demographic during the 90s. He was such a whole person, caring, intelligent, a badass, reasonable yet very guided by his heart and strong moral compass. Avery Brooks is a fantastic actor! he made he teary eyed a few times. and just on season 4. Kira is probably still one of the most amazing women in sci-fi to this day. Jadzia is an inspiration to men and women, she's just so damn cool. But Garashir, is really the pairing that just stole my heart. (julian being hated in the 90s is weird, probably why siddig wanted to leave the franchise, to put so much into your first major role and have your character be disliked is heartbreaking). Me finding out the fanbase is still alive and striving after so many years is tremendous. I'm currently reading garashir fanfiction made in 1996 the year I was born and fanfiction made yesterday, that is damn amazing.
Favorite Garashir Scene has to be everything in "Our Man Bashir", the suits, and Garak mocking Bashir's spy LARPing as a professional sp---I mean tailor. Ha.

DS9 is my fave and I've shipped Garak/Bashir for so so long. I find it amusing that as a result of the resurgence of the show and the ship, A Stitch in Time has become a rare commodity that some people are buying for $50. Like woah. I kinda see it as some kind of semi sub-canon. The actors were all for it, and sometimes even played it that way, and then ASIT can easily be read as a love letter.

It would be nice of something official paired the two in canon.

for me, Gashir was one of the first times I shipped two characters, particularly from Star Trek, way back in the 90's, and before I even understood what shipping was. Its still my main OTP for DS9. I still read fanfic dedicated to this pairing, and enjoy the many artworks that have come out because of it.

As an oblivious teen when DS9 premiered, I immediately began crushing on the dr. As an adult, I adore Gashir

I love G/B! I didn't realize that there had been a ship revival, though. I'll have to go explore some!

And I would totally watch you review Star Trek tie-in novels.

I saw this and literally shouted to no one but myself. Lol.

I discovered DS9 very recently thanks to Netflix and was blown away. I had always heard such negative things, but ended up loving the more civilian focused star trek. The show felt so much more deep and political with a lot more world building.
As for this ship, I really enjoyed their friendship early in the series but never saw the shipability due to them being separated later on. Although in hindsight I do see it, and much prefer it to the Bashir and Dax pairing the show tried to push.

Either a deep friendship or something more, the producers really missed out on a great opportunity with the Chemistry those two had on set...

If I could wave a magic wand, go back in time, and make Garashir canon, I would do that in a heartbeat. But, barring that, I would have been almost as happy if they'd let Garak be explicitly bi/pan, let Bashir be explicitly bi or gay, and then not cut out their friendship as much in the later seasons. It would be much more important to me just to have had some kind of representation--which I think Garak and Bashir would been great for--and then gotten, say, a scene following up on the reveal of their secrets after Purgatory's Shadow and and Doctor Bashir I Presume.

I loved Deep Space Nine! My fave episode was 'Far beyond the stars' set in the 1950's. To see black people in positions of authority in the future was a very big deal for me.
P.S - Could you do an Agen Coulson/Hawkeye episode? The two characters never appeared on screen together, but the amount of fanfiction for them is huge!
