Matt Gay is 25/36 from 50+ in his career (just under 70%), yes he was 8/13 (61.5%) with the Colts, but it's a weird move to remove his previous 4 years in the league and treat one season in isolation just because he wasn't on the Colts. In a 13-kick sample, the difference between 61% and 70% is literally one kick. I wouldn't worry about it in any case because the difference between the 2nd best kicker (not Justin Tucker) and the worst kicker in the NFL is like 1/10th of 1 win over the course of a season. All NFL kickers are roughly the same level of accurate.

I think some of the problems we think the Colts have, will improve by week 1. Matt Gay should be a lot better. The safeties situations would be resolved. Running back room would be good. There's still a possibility that a veteran like Xavien Howard or Adoree Jackson can be signed. We will see how the team shapes up after cut down days

Calm down with the kicker talk people. Yes, he missed what a 54 yarder in preseason week 1. Now he kicked from a guy that’s never been a holder in his life. Let’s take a deep breath. 1) kickers have slumps and 2) HE DIDNT HAVE A HOLDER lol. I swear some people watch to bitch for the sake of complaining. Have you ever kicked a FG? I have. Would I like the fact that my holder had never done it before? Hell no.
