Hot take:

Shame on RT for never mentioning Ironwoods important semblance in the show. If that one fan hadn't brought up the question we would have never realized why Ironwood even did all this crap.

I now realised Ironwood actually shed a tear before the fight started.

“I never wavered in fighting the enemies of this kingdom… and I won’t start now.” Hands down my favorite Winter line.

So does anyone hate the cannon thing Ironwood stuck his guns in? It looks clunky and kinda stupid using it as a club, when I first saw this I thought Winter was gonna win just because that thing would be to awkward to use in a melee fight.

It is sad. Even while fighting her, he was trying to explain himself. Wanting desperately for at least someone close to agree that he was right. Of all the betrayals, Winter hurts the most.

For all the faults of Ironwood's descent and the volume as a whole,
"So, the destiny I chose for you has arrived."
"You chose nothing... This was a gift."
Goes hard as FUCK

Respect to Winter at this point: She held herself well against Ironwood even though she was severly injured a few days ago and hasn't fully recovered yet.

*You have sacrificed everyone else* Winter says to the guy who literally peeled the skin off his flesh to stop watts

"You have sacrificed everyone else"

Ironwood: girl i peeled my arm like a banana like two days ago, what do you mean?

Gotta give it to how tough he truly is. Fought Watts, had his aura broken, likely never slept once in the roughly two days since, had his semblance active through most of that, fought WJNPR having his aura broken again and knocked out. Then fought Winter with no aura, won the fight, then took a blast from his own super cannon and only died by falling with Atlas.

So why did the animators forget that Winter already had her sword out at the end of Ep 13? Why does she pull it back out at the start of 14?

By this point Ironwood is fighting for nothing. Atlas is already fallen.

Ironwood just became the Iron Terminator

I'm a little disappointed that Winter didn't at least try to get Ironwood to stand down or see that he was wrong. I think this would've had a lot more impact if she told Ironwood how much he meant to her as a father figure, how she doesn't want to fight him, only for him to rant about how only he could make the right decisions, and only his solutions are good enough.
Seriously, it was so easy to make this way more emotional than it was and they blew it

RoosterTeeth killed Ironwood because he was too based and everyone started siding with him over team RWBY. Throughout Volume 7, he was correct in almost EVERY decision he made, but our “heroes” decided he couldn’t be trusted for some reason and lied to him, betrayed him, and stabbed him in the back then had the AUDACITY to get mad when he called them out. Sheer. Fucking. Hubris.

Credit where it's due, you'd think ironwood would be at a massive disadvantage with the cumbersome heavy weapon with a long charge up time, his brute strength approach to fighting and Winter's various methods of speed and movement boosts.
But they give him the win here.
That's cool.

Not sure how i feel about Winter joining the "good guys". She stood right beside Ironwood through everything. So when she's "reformed" it feels like she somehow absolved of all responsibility.

This fight wasn’t as epic as it could have been. But it did cause some feelings.

I hate his stupid cannon so much. There's no way you'd be able to hold it straight. The handles are at a 45 degree angle and all of the weight is at the front. If they wanted to give Ironwood a boosted up weapon how about have him replace one of his arms with a cannon ala megaman. That would both look cooler and be in keeping with the theme of him becoming more of a cold machine.

I know it's been a year, but I JUST noticed something that really sets me off. Winter became the Maiden and Ironwood just shrugged off what that meant for Penny in favor of acknowledging the destiny he *"chose"* for her.

He trusted Penny enough to tell her about the Maidens, Relics, and Salem, but doesn't even show a bit of sympathy for her death. He spent Volume 7 acting like he actually cared about her and how she wasn't just a war machine, but here we see he really didn't give a singular @#$%!!!
